Don't see much there that would be of value. We always get to the port early and are one of the first to board. We've never had to wait around (unless they have trouble getting the ship cleared in which case even these people would have to wait). Once onboard we usually check our dinner table and go grab lunch in the Windjammer. By then the room is normally about ready to open and often times they seem to open early. Since we're one of the first to drop our luggage off it's also usually one of the first delivered, almost always before we are even done checking out our room for the first time. For guest services there is often not a line (the fact that this is a perk seems to say something about the lines quality, and likely angers the already upset people in line even more) unless something is going on or it's peak time in the evening. If i need something I usually go before bed when it's completely empty. The only thing on the list that seems to be an actual perk is the tendering, but that seems to be directly a direct negative for all the other guests onboard. While I don't really see the value in the other items they also wouldn't really effect me if others did. The tendering is the one that seems to have value, partly because it negatively impacts all other guests.

 

Actually, it says much less about the line's quality and more about the quality of the people sailing the line. Most of those pax (especially the last two days) are people trying to remove their tips because they are cheap. :(

Port Canaveral ships aren't ready until 1:30. Sometimes a little earlier, but no guarantees.

My Sunshine cruise out of PC back in March my cabin was ready at 1115 with FTTF.

Perhaps it is time to take our focus away from CaribSailor and return to the thread of if this program should be offered.

 

I have no interest to the full program. However, I would pay a fee to have my luggage arrive at my cabin in prompt manner, such as 1pm.

Yes, you can get to the port early and board (assuming your pre-cruise travel plans allow), but that means you're dragging around your carry-on bag for the next two hours, while you try to grab lunch in the Windjammer and explore the ship. I love the idea of being able to stash the bag in the cabin.

 

And why would anyone object to an option to pay extra to get an early tender to shore? Many of us save money by booking private excursions, and this option would be really helpful.

 

I actually think these completely voluntary, and imaginative revenue-generating ideas are a benefit to all of us. Not all passengers will be interested. However, whatever revenue is generated allows the line to either offer more or cut fares.

 

 

Royal is my preferred cruise line at this point. It's also my daughter's. But this Carnival cruise offered a really good itinerary at a value price and it met their very restrictive dates to align with their wedding.

 

Favoring a particular brand does not exclude me from finding things that other brands do well. I thought this program was one of those things. Clearly there are those who strongly disagree.

 

 

Sheeze, I was thinking the same thing. :eek: I would definitely pay to be able to get to my room right away! :D

I've stood in line at GS on many occasions the last night of the cruise. I had no idea I was in line with all those cheap people removing their tips. :D

(Mostly I've been there with DW because she prefers to open a cash account, and then gets the unused amount back on the last night. I'm working on breaking her of this habit and getting her now to use the RCCL branded card for onboard purchases not covered by OBC so we get the points. I will also now have the benefit not standing in line with all those cheap people. ;) )

Good for you, but just curious, how do those with fttf access their cabins? Seems like a logistical nightmare

 

They go to the elevator, select the appropriate floor, and walk to the cabin. At least that's what I do. And the cabin will be completely ready for the new occupants. Luggage in my cases have arrived within the hour. For tendered ports, FTTF folks meet at Guest Services and they are escorted to the front of the tender line. Not nightmarish at all but maybe you have to use it once to understand it.

The best comedy show on Carnival is standing next to the GS line between 7 and 10pm on the last night. The stories you will hear are just too funny! :D

All FTTF, Platinum, and Diamond cabins are ready as soon as the occupants board the ship. All other cabins are usually ready between 1:30 to 2:00pm.

 

The one thing that the Plats and Diamonds who are unhappy about FTTF will never tell you is that this one specific perk was created because of FTTF and now the Plats and Diamonds get to enjoy this feature as well.

Got it, I think we would qualify as Gold with 50 some days on Carnival. But we have not sailed since 2007 so not sure how things worked back then.

 

My logistic statement related to what the non qualifying passengers do while their cabins are not ready. it just seems to me that their would be issues with people roaming the halls waiting for their cabin to be ready. On Royal, the fire doors are closed until the all ready notification is given. Verifying who is allowed past the elevator lobby into the halls seems complicated especially in the last 30 minutes before the cabins are done.

From what I've read on the Carnival board that's exactly what's happening. Nobody knows who's who.

At 50 odd nights you would be Gold (same as me at 49 nights). Prior to FTTF, everyone, for the most part, would sit in the Lido buffet with our luggage waiting for the announcement that the cabins were ready. Now, with FTTF (and Plats and Diamonds) get to drop off our luggage in our ready cabin and walk the ship unhindered. Or change into swim suits and hit the pools while they are still relatively empty. Or a number of other things without having to drag luggage around.

 

On Carnival, people are not allowed to roam the halls. The doors are shut and sometimes manned. There is signage stating FTTF, Plats, and Diamonds are allowed to proceed to their cabins. If the doors are manned, you just show your Sign&Sail card for entry.

Oh WOW , some people really seem to be bothered by the fact , that some others can

pay the more expensive rooms, I can't , but am happy for those that can . I still get to cruise , I still get great service , eat good food , and see all the same shows .And yes

I am happy with the product that RCI supplies .
