westcoastcruiser Posted November 6, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 6, 2015 Booked this cabin for a lomg S america cruise. Any thoughts, comments or issues we should be aware of. Searched and it seems like we should be ok but would appreciate any recent feedback. Thanks!

cayman09 Posted November 6, 2015 #3 Share Posted November 6, 2015 Was right above it on my Bermuda cruise in May. Loved it! Balcony is very large, great views, convenient to Lido upstairs or Explorations Cafe down. Would do it again.
janmcn Posted November 7, 2015 #4 Share Posted November 7, 2015 Had it on the Voyage of the Vikings this year (35 days) and it was awesome! We were concerned about any extra motion we might feel, but even in high seas, had no problems. The view is tremendous. And...right next door (the stairway that goes down to the full wraparound Promenade) is a large open viewing area that is also out of the wind...lovely for entering, leaving places, etc. We'd definitely book it again...so enjoy! https://quiltingjan.smugmug.com/Travel/2015/Voyage-of-the-Vikings/i-WzhMnz6/A (It has two lounges, 2 chairs, and a table. We stacked the lounges on this trip since it was pretty cold so we could move around more for photography.)

Very helpful amd confirms we made a good decision in reserving this cabin. With the access door being right next to this cabin, was there noise from it slamming closed? The photos were so helpful....really appreciate the link.

With the access door being right next to this cabin, was there noise from it slamming closed? The photos were so helpful....really appreciate the link. We were in 232 in December 2010 for 17 days with 3 adults. We were comfortable in the cabin and loved the extended balcony. We had no vibration issues. Once in a blue moon you would hear someone use the door but with the cabin being on the stern on a short corridor, there was very little foot traffic and, unless you had a cabin close by, wouldn't likely know about the door. catl331 Posted November 7, 2015 #7 Share Posted November 7, 2015 With the access door being right next to this cabin, was there noise from it slamming closed? My pure guess would be no. Unlike the Lower Promenade doors it is sheltered from the wind by 218, and you shouldn't get anywhere near as much traffic as the LP doors. cayman09 Posted November 7, 2015 #8 Share Posted November 7, 2015 We called it our "Secret door" because we didn't see or hear anyone else use it during our whole trip.
janmcn Posted November 7, 2015 #9 Share Posted November 7, 2015 I agree...we were the ones most likely to use the door, so if it slammed, it was usually us...inadvertently ;-) When you have your lifeboat drill you are allowed, and encouraged, to use those stairs. There were lifeboat helpers stationed on the stairs. We were the only ones we saw use them.
