Andrew89 Posted November 7, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 7, 2015 Hi everyone, considering a May cruise on Allure with either boardwalk or Central Park view with balcony. Just wondering if you think it would be cheaper to book now or wait a few weeks/months? Thanks for all the help! :)
LuCruise Posted November 8, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 8, 2015 (edited) You can always book now. If the price drops before final payment (which is probably sometime in February for a May cruise), then you can get the lower price. Rare Tapi Posted November 8, 2015 #4 Share Posted November 8, 2015 (edited) When we sailed on Allure, it was in May as well and we ended getting a last minute resident discount that reduced the cost of the cruise considerably. We did book about a month before departure and had a Boardwalk stateroom (which I would recommend over Central Park because you have a partial view of the ocean and you can see the Aqua Theater performances from your room as well). With that said, predicting whether prices will go up or down is anyone's guess and I wouldn't hold off on booking hoping for a discount closer to sailing. As mentioned above, you can book now and watch for price drops. You don't need to cancel and rebook. You can just get the price adjusted until final payment. If prices are holding steady or trending down as final payment approaches, you can then make a more educated guess, but once again, I wouldn't hold off on making a reservation waiting for price drops that may or may not happen. Another disadvantage about waiting to make a booking is that, since the Allure requires reservations for many onboard activities, you will have less choices the more you wait. We had to settle for the scraps when we booked, and we couldn't even make reservations for some things until we got on the ship. So keep that in mind as well. BekkaW Posted November 8, 2015 #5 Share Posted November 8, 2015 By cancelling and rebooking? No, you dont have to do that. You just call your travel agent or RCI if you booked direct with them. As long as its before the final payment date they will adjust your balance due to the lower amount. There are some rare exceptions such as sales that are for new bookings only. LuCruise Posted November 8, 2015 #6 Share Posted November 8, 2015 (edited) By cancelling and rebooking? Ours has only gone up since booking (and we booked 16 months in advance). But as BekkaW said, simply call Royal (or your TA if didn't book directy) and they can re-price you....if before final payment. I agree as well with the other comment, that if you book early, you get your choice of many things such as dining time (early traditional dining fills up), stateroom, and any reservations for shows and dinner if they are open yet. Our mid April cruise has entertainment open but not dining yet, so not sure when reservations will open up for the May cruise.
