Caribbean Drifters Posted November 9, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 9, 2015 Only 4 more days!!! Happy Dance I'm new to Carnival, so learning a lot here. Is there truly just a lack of correspondence or did we just slip through the cracks? We never recieved a packet in the mail, or any kind of marketing, or any correspondence emails except for them asking us to take a survey. Without searching here as well as their website I wouldn't even know that I need to print and fill out a health waiver, or luggage tags, or online check in. The list goes on and on. Is this the norm? We are just used to other lines building up the excitement. I even emailed the casino a question a month ago, and they promptly said mailed back sand said they had no answer to my question and since my cruise WAS ONLY 1 MONTH AWAY they highly doubt that they would get back to me in time. All of this today, that I'm a little nervous that there is part of the processing i'm missing and embarkation won't go smoothly.
theriac Posted November 9, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 9, 2015 No you haven't missed anything. I'm like 40 days out from my third cruise this and the only emails I've received regarding my cruises are confirming my booking when I booked and paid for the cruises and also about 3 to 4 days out got the standard email telling me not to get to the port until 1 due to an inspection and/or controlling the volume. Other than that I just get marketing emails about current promotions.
ready2cruzagain Posted November 9, 2015 #3 Share Posted November 9, 2015 You didn't slip through the cracks. Carnival just doesn't send out a lot of emails before the cruise unlike other cruise lines.
ladygal4.4 Posted November 9, 2015 #4 Share Posted November 9, 2015 I agree. Our first cruise I only stumbled on the fact that I needed to do online check in and print out all the papers for luggage/health etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Retired_to_Cruise Posted November 9, 2015 #5 Share Posted November 9, 2015 If you used a PVP or a TA, they should be telling you the things you have to do. If you just booked on line, you probably should have been looking at the frequently asked questions that are a part of the site to understand how the whole process works. The information is out there for you to find and use. Rest assured, when you are on the ship, they will not announce that it is time for dinner, or that the bars and casinos are open, or that it is time for you to get off the ship in every port, or when every single activity is starting. That will be in the FunTimes and you must own that responsibility.
riffatsea Posted November 9, 2015 #6 Share Posted November 9, 2015 All the info you need is accessible when you go into your booking on the web site. It has a tab for "things to do" before the cruise, excursions you can book, etc. In this day of the computer one has to just read to find out anything you need to know. We haven't gotten "packets" in the mail for a very long time now.
firemanbobswife Posted November 9, 2015 #7 Share Posted November 9, 2015 (edited) Make sure you aren't opted out of Carnival's emails. I liked the old days when they mailed you your luggage tags and packet. It was so fun to find them in the mailbox! Sadly, most cruise lines don't do that anymore unless you want to pay a fee - boo!! Anyway, I went back through my old emails and you should get something like this. This one was when my cruise was 3 months out, but I did get ones when it was closer. I guess I didn't save them. 13cheermom Posted November 9, 2015 #8 Share Posted November 9, 2015 This is our 7th cruise with Carnival and we never received any extra mailings beside confirmation of booking. Then for the last 2 cruises we started received emails concerning excursions, online check-in and last minute details. It really makes no sense why they started doing this, but like others stated it is better to just go through cruise manager and keep up with everything yourself! Sweet Dutch Girl Posted November 9, 2015 #9 Share Posted November 9, 2015 Carnival no longer mails correspondence, except marketing. As far as emails, dependent upon your email server they may well end up in your "junk" email (google is notorious for deciding which emails are junk). You need to set your server so that they recognize "Carnival" as legit. Besides, the emails direct you back to the web site so it is up to the booking passenger to "manage" their cruises on the site unless you have a third person doing your booking. maeormaenot Posted November 9, 2015 #10 Share Posted November 9, 2015 Yayyy, one month...feels like an eternity doesn't it? When you book a cruise, you agree to read the FAQ and all the online info. Read all of it, and then ask questions, if needed. You will have a blast, don't worry.

kelkel2 Posted November 10, 2015 #12 Share Posted November 10, 2015 Is your email address updated with Carnival? We are about 2 months out and we have been getting emails for a while now from Carnival about purchasing excursions etc. I do understand what you mean though, as it's not really first timer friendly. Especially if you booked on your own. It's hard to know where everything is and what to print, heck, even to do your online check in. It would be nice if Carnival could send everyone just a basic email stating "hey your cruise is coming up, this is what you need to do"
Caribbean Drifters Posted November 10, 2015 Author #13 Share Posted November 10, 2015 yeah, i have Carnival in my accepted emails. I wasn't trying to complain, I'm just used to something different. I was really worried I was missing something once I found out about the health survey, but I think I got it all squared away.
