Since your time is limited you could easily do an overview of Venice on your own.

Just leave your luggage at the luggage storage facility at Piazzale Roma, 7e per bag. If you can easily manage your luggage you can ride the People Mover (monorail) to PRoma from the pier; 3 minute ride for 1.5E The luggage facility is almost next door to the monorail station.

If you can't manage your luggage take a cab from the pier to PRoma. It's a 5 minute drive once you get away from the pier crowds.

From PRoma, walk across the square and you're at the Grand Canal. Hop on a water bus and ride it to St Marks. Explore for a few hours then take the water bus back to PRoma, collect your luggage and take the ATVO express bus to the airport. It leaves from the middle of P Roma at 20 and 50 minutes past the hour .... 8E pp for the 20 minute ride. Or you can hop into a cab at Proma and it will be about 40E for the 20 minute ride.

There are a few tour companies listed in this web site:

Viator uses this company, Bucintoro, for the Grand Canal tours. Their posted time doesn't work for your visit, and you'll find that many tours start at St Marks.
