Is there, or is there not, entertainment onboard ship while tied up in Bermuda...it makes a slight difference as to whether I dine early or late.

Yes, there is entertainment on board in the evenings. Usually, though, they had the standard two shows. That way both seatings were able to enjoy the shows without rushing thru dinner. On our sailing, 4/24, the early seating was the most popular.

Enjoy your trip!

Danno,

It has been a few years since I cruised to Bermuda, but I remember that when we went the major production shows were done while we were at sea. While docked the entertainment was the 50's night, Newlewed/Not-so-Newlewed game, Island Party night. Also while in Port the Casino was closed. Again this was many years ago so things may have changed.

We visited Bermuda last year on Carnival and a few years ago on Royal Caribbean. The casinos are closed while in port. We opted for evening shore excursions but, I am 99.9% sure that at least one show per night while in port was put on by the cruise lines.

was on the Horizon twice and there was always entertainment. Deck parties were limited though because of noise ordinances but there was plenty to do.

Professional entertainment shows are not allowed. You may find on board game shows and perhaps a piano or small band. You can expect an Island Night while in port but not your normal at sea entertainment.

When we were in Bermuda, last year, reg shows were on, one night singers and dancers and one night a comedian. There is nothing to do at night in Bermuda, so take the seating you prefer. Casino and shops on board ship are closed while in Bermuda, very disappointing place to visit-- give me the Caribbean anytime.

Late sitting it is...I'm really not big on "passenger" talent shows. I guess that means the party band is not involved while in port either??

Danno,

It's been a few years for me too but on all 4 of my celebrity trips the band did play while in port - they played at Island Night although that did end by 11 pm I think because of the noise as someone posted, they play at the sock hop and also one night the show featured an audience participation gig that was very funny. Also, one night while in Hamilton there was a street fair that we got off the ship and walked around - local crafters etc. The disco also was on til the wee hours every night.

We always did late seating - more time at the beach, a dip in the pool,a nap and a few pre dinner drinks icon_wink.gif

Love this island so much we are doing it a 5th time next June!

Norm, there is nothing to do at night in Bermuda?

I have read about a wonderful Street Festival that takes place in Hamilton, during the evening on at least one day. Restaurants, clubs, and arts and crafts...an outside Festival.

And the ship is more like a floating hotel...because its docked (for my sailing anyway) 2 full nights in St George and Hamilton.

I am sure I will find things to do in the evenings icon_biggrin.gif.

Debjac...hoping I love the Island too!

Next up...HORIZON Sept 18th to Bermuda!

Late sitting it is...my wife is concerned we may get too hungry for late dinner. For a bright girl sometimes she says the stupidest things icon_biggrin.gif.

(when was the last time you saw ANYONE hungry on a Celebrity ship??)

Danno,

The only time I am hungry on a Celebrity ship is when I wake up in the morning and during the walk from my stateroom to the dining room for breakfast, after that I'm good.

I can't wait to go to Bermuda. After reading all the posts about the Zenith and Bermuda I'm getting really excited.

As others have stated, while in port the entertainment is of the passanger involved game show genre. There are usually shows at the major hotels in Hamilton City but they do not show as excursions on the ship daily. The local newspaper,Royal Gazette, copies which are available in the lobby of the ship while in port and that is where you can get the entertainment schedule. If you want to take in a non-ship sponsered show you might be better served with the main seating.

Duck...Horizon was our first cruise ship also. I think it was 1991, she was less that a year old. You are right, hard to ever have a cruise as good as the first. I think that's why I still find Horizon to be my favorite ship.

Hope someone is calling you "dad" soon...say hi to Renee for us.

I was on the Horizon last year and there were no production shows while docked in Bermuda. While a ship is docked, local ordinances do not allow professional entertainment performances, amplified music, or casino gaming. "Entertainment" was limited to things like the Not So Newlywed Game The standard production shows, magicians, etc were done while at sea.

Lois and Danno, check out Bermudaentertainment.com The street fair in Hamilton is on Wed nights. We were on the Zenith which was in St.Georges on that night. They did have a shore excursion over to the street fair but the water in the canal was to rough and they cancelled it..We never did get to go. icon_cool.gif

The entertainment while the ship is in port on Celebrity is the passenger talent show, a passenger lip sync show and the Newlywed game. No production numbers or individual entertainers. They claim they can't have professional entertainment. On other cruise lines they do have professional entertainment when the ship is docked in Bermuda, I have experienced it so I don't know why Celebrity can't. Perhaps not having entertainment is cheaper. As far as the seating, normally I prefer second seating but for Bermuda I prefer first seating because I have found things to do in Bermuda after dinner.

Charles, it's no claim, but fact. It's one of the Bermudian ordinances that says no entertainment on the ship while in port. Only allowance is for the ship's band. This has been a sore point with some entertainers who can perform only on sea days. Casinos are always closed no matter the port!

Always remember, if there is something going on in Hamilton and the ship's in St George, you're only a bus ride away!

Danno, we're all waiting for the newest Duck to get here!

Just came back from Bermuda yesterday, May 29th. Went on the Celebrity Zenith.

There was professional entertainment every

night. Vegas style show, comedian, singer,

etc. Was pleasantly surprise. Went on the

Norwegian lines a couple of years ago from

Boston and it was Bingo every night while

in port and nothing else. Celebrity went

all out.
