esdoorn Posted April 9, 2016 #51 Share Posted April 9, 2016 Half Moon Cay is a great place to rent a Cabana as you get priority tender of the ship. we were on the second tender and had Cabana #11 (see picture) and you will note that there was maybe 15 other people at our part of the beach. FTTF is also a great choice to purchase (unless diamond or platinum) so you get priority embarkation as Cabana locations are chosen on ship at the shore excursion desk. We had FTTF and border right after diamond and platinum and were second in line at the shore excursion desk. .
tropicaledrink Posted April 9, 2016 #52 Share Posted April 9, 2016 We have made it twice (in May and January) and missed once (early June). The time we missed the water was choppy, there were higher winds, and it was spitting rain off and on. It was also cooler - I think we must have sailed in after or on the tail end of a storm. I do think you run a bigger risk of sailing during hurricane season. We were literally staring at the island and I watched as the tenders tried to meet the ship to offload supplies. As soon as I saw how much they were bouncing, I knew it was unlikely we were going to get off. Us missing last June is part of the reason we picked the Conquest for this May. We also had a sea day. I think it depends when they cancel, subbing a port isn't easy due to the location of Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas.
