captains party for repeat guests?

Thanks everyone! We don't really care about the free drink, my 4 year old thought it would be pretty cool to "meet" the captain.

The invitation will give your name and your significant other's. I don't believe I've seen any kids at the Captain Parties we've been too. But I don't recall kids being blocked from the Captain's Welcome Party, and usually the captain will be there.

On the Golden to Alaska a couple of years ago we were able to go to the past passenger party as guest of the couple that was the most sailed on Princess, they and us were escorted to the Fusion Lounge by a member of the captains staff about 30 minutes before the party started, set on the front row and was able to order from a bar staff waiter all we wanted from the bar and didn't have to drink the warm or watered down drinks, quite an experience but have not gone since that cruise to another pp party, just wouldn't be the same!

One of nicest Past Passenger Parties that I have attended was on the Grand Princess just last week. We were served both hot and cold appetizers, the little jars with the dry snack mix, and plenty of drinks. One person in our group ordered a margarita and another ordered a diet coke. There was no problem getting a drink that wasn't on the tray. I wish every ship had a party like the Grand Princess. :D

We always ask for white wine, you can't fake that.

Earlier this month on the Emerald, I asked the server if I could have a bottle of the Seawitch IPA instead of one of the prepared drinks on her tray. No problem. Within a couple of minutes, she returned with it already poured into a nice cold glass. And it WAS the IPA, which normally sells for $6.25/bottle. Service was so fast and friendly (and the beer was so good) that I was able to get two refills before the party ended. :)

I've always attended the Past Guest party when I was gold. They used to give "ELITE" benefits to one lucky person and I always wanted that. When I turned Platinum I didn't attend the Captain's Party.. Till my last cruise.

Just off the Regal and attended my first Captain's Party - and I am glad I did. The Captain was great. He spoke for awhile and was quite entertaining. He could have had his own stand up show!

There was no line to stand in to get into the Vista Lounge, we were escorted to front row seats and immediately offered a drink. There was music playing and couples dancing. It was quite enjoyable and I will do it again!

I have experienced this both ways... and I think it has changed over the years.

Our first time attending the party was our 2nd cruise.... which was the full cocktail hour with free drinks. We followed the herd and sat and received 2 or 3 of the tray passed drinks while listening the the commentary and such.

Our third cruise we were lucky enough to meet a friendly bartender the night before the party, had good conversation and tipped him appropriately. The following evening at the party (our 2nd party) we sat at the bar and our bartender spotted us.... after the first few Beverly Hills iced teas :) the rest of the night was foggy... I do know that our drinks were never less than half full and there was another waiting for us.

Every party since then has been the watered down marketing promotion with the drink voucher. March will be our first cruise as Platinum so I am curious to see which "flavor" of past guest party we get.
