Rare frantic36 Posted November 14, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 14, 2015 I know some people on the Odyssey Australian cruise posted a question in the Australian port section re transport from White Bay. For those interested Captain Cook cruises have announced a ferry service which will be available on ship arrival and departure days. https://s3-ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com/captain-cook-cms-assets/assets/timetables/2899/151112a.pdf It may be useful to some people for embarkation/disembarkation but has restrictions which will make it awkward as use for transport when the ship is in port overnight. As we arrive in Sydney at 11am you can only catch the ferry to Darling Harbour as the last ferry from White Bay to Circular Quay is 10.55am. Then to return to the ship in the afternoon you again have to leave from Darling Harbour. You would have to pay extra to get the connecting ferry between Circular Quay and Darling Harbour. The two main options as I see it too get to Circular Quay Area 1) is taxi directly there 2) take a taxi to Balmain East to catch the local ferry to where we plan to go. The local ferries are cheaper as well. Here are some links for local ferry services. http://www.transportnsw.info/sites/en/maps-and-timetables/ferry-timetables.page http://www.transportnsw.info/sites/en/maps-and-timetables/ferry-timetables.page http://www.transportnsw.info/sites/en/tickets/ticket-types/ferry/index.page I am sorry this is so long :o but I hope it may help some people. Julie P.S. We used the local ferry service when we were in Sydney a few weeks ago and they were comfortable and clean with lots of seating. We used them on week days as well as the weekend.
