CruisinMommy06 Posted November 19, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 19, 2015 We booked a cruise of October 2016-Bermuda on the Anthem! We are so excited. My question is: Is it possible to book a specialty restaurant for lunch on boarding day? We cruised a few years ago on the Allure and the windjammer was nuts boarding day. This time It will be me, my husband, and my son who will be almost 2. Im nervous about windjammer chaos with a almost 2yr!
Rare conandrob240 Posted November 19, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 19, 2015 If you mean pre-book, no- as of right now, no lunch reservation can be made at all before the cruise. There's also 270 and pizza if Windjammer is crazy or board as early as possible and head there first- would imagine it'll be fine first hour or two after boarding. I will check for you next week when I board to see if Jamies or the Pub are open on boarding day for walk in

Rare Turtles06 Posted November 19, 2015 #4 Share Posted November 19, 2015 When you board, go directly to the spectacular Two70 (Deck 5), grab some comforable seats, then get your lunch at Cafe 270. You can't beat this. :)
CruisinMommy06 Posted November 19, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted November 19, 2015 Thanks for advice will def do this if none of the specialty restaurants are open. I vowed never again to do the buffet on opening day! Is it hard to get seating? How is the food there?
gaylemh Posted November 20, 2015 #6 Share Posted November 20, 2015 I always go to the WJ after the cabins open. Everyone is heading to their cabin, and it's easy to find a table, and you can drop off your carry on before you eat.
MisterBill99 Posted November 20, 2015 #7 Share Posted November 20, 2015 (edited) I'm planning to eat in Devinly Decadence in the Solarium. Our cabin is on deck 13, so it will be very convenient to get to when they're available. We might try Two70 when we sail again in August since we will be on deck 6 then. We ate at the Solarium Bistro on Oasis on embarkation earlier this year and it was really nice, and not very crowded. Certainly better than the WJ! Everyone is heading to their cabin, and it's easy to find a table, and you can drop off your carry on before you eat. What do you do before the cabins are available? Do you just not arrive until 1, or find something else to do? While WJ may be crowded, going to lunch while waiting for cabins to be available is the easiest thing to do, as opposed to dragging around your carry-ons while you do other stuff. Rare conandrob240 Posted November 20, 2015 #9 Share Posted November 20, 2015 We like to just go right to the pool. We might take turns going to grab pizza or a sandwich leaving our carry ons there at our seats. If no one feels like swimming, we'll sit and eat or if Northstar or number cars or something like that is open, we'll take advantage of low crowds. We ate at jamie's on quantum and plan to do so again on anthem in a couple of weeks. it didn't open until 12 on quantum and we boarded at 11:30-ish (we were in a suite so got early boarding), but there are comfy chairs right outside of jamie's to wait in. Many people do not know it's open so it was relatively uncrowded - we left at around 1:30 and it was still only half full. The restaurant was big enough that we were able to fit our carryons along a wall next to our table, so didn't have to worry about them getting in the way. it's a great time to try jamie's, because once the word is out that it's good, getting reservations for dinner or getting in for lunch gets a lot harder. :) fwiw, it was my favorite restaurant on quantum, and although lunch carries a charge, i found it well worth it.
