biojeep Posted November 21, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 21, 2015 We are thinking of taking the Park Connection Bus from Anchorage to Denali. Which hotels are drop off points for the bus? Also do these hotels provide shuttles to the park entrance? Planning is beginning to feel overwhelming so help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. mapleleaves Posted November 21, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 21, 2015 (edited) The drop off points are listed on the bus web site, under schedule. http://www.alaskacoach.com/schedule/Park-Connection-Schedule-Rates.pdf A few places have transfers to the park. There used to be a list on the Denali forum of tripadvisor under Top Questions. Also, the Denali Salmon Bake has run a shuttle in the past, so choose lodging that's near one of their drop off points. http://www.denaliparksalmonbake.com/shuttle_schedule.html And if you can manage a 30-40 minute walk, choose lodging closest to the park. Have you thought about renting a car instead? A car will give you the ability to make stops for wildlife or other places of interest along the way; allows you to travel at YOUR schedule; and it opens up so many lodging choices. It's an easy drive ... a 2 lane road, impossible to get lost. And as of a few weeks ago, a one-week rental car was only $200 (turn it in early if you don't need it). Budget Queen Posted November 21, 2015 #3 Share Posted November 21, 2015 I used the Park Connection Bus, and as stated, the pick up/drop offs are clearly stated. There are some lodging that does have shuttles, but they all are not "frequent", lucky if they are every hour. ;) Staying in Glitter Gulch is probably going to be your best bet, since there also are a lot of meal options and quicker access into Denali. More convenient is Princess and McKinley Chalet Resort. Real "basic" (and not for everyone), the Salmon Bake has cabins. You can't have any mobility limits, and must have the ability to walk up and down hill. :) A real bargain however, with not having a car, and the ease of location. (yep, I stay there :) )
