Carnival Hub app

I usually brick my phone as soon as I step on the ship - put in airplane mode, no wifi, Bluetooth etc all to make sure I don't have any crazy overages. How does the HUB app work? What do you leave on so the magic happens?

I am on the Breeze next month so this is great to ease my mind. Thanks!

You put the phone into airplane mode then turn wifi back on.

We chose the internet social media option with the app + that's an additional $5 per day or $25 per cruise. Well worth the money, especially for our next cruise, which is 15 days.

If you have a 15 day cruise I think it's more than $25 since that's the discounted price for a 7 day cruise. But I really liked having it.

Pride does have app. 4 of us used it last week. However, it is very spotty and you have no notification if someone sends you a message. You have to constantly reconnect and check your phone constantly to see if text. But for $5 for the week give it a try.

Just want to add that it is great to see activities for the day, check your onboard account. Just not great for communication a lot of the time. And you do need to connect to wifi

You aren't kidding about the chat function. Fell victim to that as I type. My daughters and wife slept in today. I left the room and waited for them to chat me. It never came. Went back to the room only to find out they left the ship (they assume I left them and went into Marseille solo based on the chat I got once I rebooted my phone)

I have no idea what they are doing as they have very little money. I also have their ID's other than S&S.

We shall see how this end up.

Guess the lesson is don't rely on Carnival chat and reboot your phone often.

Just got off the Freedom. The basic, free part of the app works well. it's a live version of the fun times. Our ports were rescheduled due to the tropical storm and the app always had updated info. Easy to search for certain places on ship.

The optional chat is V E R Y flaky. DO NOT rely on it for any messages that are more that merely saying hello. Many messages came in late - up to a day, or never at all. If used to coordinate meeting plans it will cause a problem at some point on your cruise.
