It wasn't all drinking. We bought 4 Fossil watches and some shore excursions. We had $90.00 bottles of wine each night(between 4 people) just to say that we did(a fool and his money). My mother-in-law needed a $200 advance in the casino...etc.

On the Grand last year, for two of us, our bill at teh end of the week including tips was $900. We do not do spa services or gamble (although I did spend 40 dollars on Bingo). We did buy 4 ship photos (5x7) and do ships excursions (all about 50 bucks each). We are not heavy drinkers and buy no souvenirs (my house is filled with more junk than it needs). You can check your accoutn every day to see where you are.

jemingway : I thought that I was the winner with the highest amount. I spent $3,000.00 too during my last cruise. I bought 2 paintings (1 of them big and expensive but I checked the price on the internet and I got it for a good price), spa services (massage and spa products) plus I always have my hair done for the formal night and then I have lots of photos, bingo (at least I won one), souvenirs, some shore excursions, internet, and casino cash advances.

I don't plan on buying paintings on my Alaska cruise in June. I need to use the money for the more expensive Alaska excursions.

Just got back from the Golden, 7 days, had a great time.
Total bill was $ 345 for two of us , including tips!!
We don't gamble, we don't buy any souvenirs on the ship, we had one or two drinks a day onboard, and a bottle of wine lasts us two nights( they store it for you).
We never use ship excursions, just go ourselves.
We bought one photo( formal night) and used our own camera and took our own shots! We don't need any more photos that are "staged" we just threw the old ones into storage.
We don't use the spa, and I had my hair done once years ago on board and thought it was overpriced and not even attractively done, so that's a no!

We really had fun and didn't feel that we missed out on anything!
You can spend as much or as little as you wish, spending more doesn't make going home much fun when it's time to pay the piper!

Although we have no problem practicing restraint in spending, we did eat like gluttons for 7 days so I suppose we all have our vices! LOL

Another one from the cheap seats. Our bill including tips for 7 days on the Diamond was $203. We bought 2 ships shirts a bottle of Kahlua as a gift and used the internet for about an hour using a half off coupon we were given by our TA.

The point here isn't that we set our sights on spending "next to nothing" it is that a cruise need not be a wallet busting exercise to be enjoyed. We cruise A LOT so some of the things people spend money on we are well past. Photos, excursions, spa treatments etc. I am very happy some of you spend as you do, it allow me to book at reduced fairs but don't get the idea that you MUST spend to enjoy, anyone who has cruised with me will tell you that you can't knock the smile off my face with a brick.

Viajera, my wife buys every photo ever taken which runs up the tab in a hurry. I think she would buy other poeple's pictures, if there weren't enough of our group. Also, the kids run up the tab on bingo cards, overpriced souvenires, etc. Finally, the shore excursions add up quickly. All of which make my bar tab look considerably more modest.

7 days Diamond Princess cruise total for 3 of us was $600 and that included the tips. A few drinks, some gambling, ceramics. It was a good cruise!

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do then by the ones you did. So, throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
