Sorry should have QUOTED, the rely to my earlier question! I was told if I pull the daily tips. Just tip as I see fit. If you will. Yet in reading every post on this topic, here's what would happen them.

Ok but then based on what I've read here, they will then get in trouble from there supervisors. As to why did cabin so in so, pull the daily tips from you? What do you do wrong, for the people in cabin so in so to pull back the daily tips? Because I read here, where they know who pulled the tips. And that they get a paper, saying what rooms pulled there tips. And they must explain why, to there supers! So with that idea, where you thought your really helping this person out! Your throwing him under the bus. Right?

Right. The system in place works best. Auto tip and if you really like his service a little extra - but is is NOT required.

I honestly do not understand why people are questioning the auto tipping of the staff that help them enjoy their cruise. If there is an issue get it addressed, if they cannot help escalate to the guest services desk and if there is still no satisfaction, then consider some recompense of your fare or the pulling of auto tips from that aspect of service if covered.

Note that the tips really only go to the stateroom attendants, housekeeping and dining service personnel.

Not really. The cruise line is making the erroneous assumption that a passenger who removes their tip are doing so because of poor service. This is simply poor management, as we know that there are lots of reasons why people chose not to tip.

The opposite is also true. To assume that people tip for good service is incorrect also. Most people tip for reasons other than the service received.

It is not the passenger that is throwing the service provider under the bus, it is the cruise line. The recovery from this is of course for the service provider to state that the passenger tipped them directly instead.

I've never tipped the room steward at the beginning. Usually some extra at the end. Plus I prepay my tips before I leave so it's taken care of before I even leave. I also bring extra one's for room service.

Very good idea to have some $1 bills, for room service tips. Nothing worse than having a bunch of $20's on hand and no small bills for room service when they arrive with your order. I like tipping big, but not $20 for coffee and danishes in the morning.

We're new to cruising and we're a bit confused about tipping. We just booked a cruise with Carnival and will sail in less than a month. The tips are not pre-paid. We travel without kids, just the two of us.

We don't drink alcohol, so we won't be going to a bar. Who should we tip in our case? The room steward and waiters; anyone else?

It may sound a bit old-fashioned, but we prefer being personal and giving cash in person to make sure the tip goes directly to those who served us, instead of adding the tips to the bill at the end of the cruise.

Thanks for any input!

1. Just leave the auto tip on.

2. Tip anyone whom you thinks provides really good service a bit extra.

3. Handing cash to the person is a futile and totally useless gesture as they are required to turn it into the tip pool anyway. However, if you tip extra to specific people, they can then keep it. The servers do not care about being personally handed the money. They just want the money.

Really very simple.

Guest services or the casino can provide change of the large bills.:D

But from your first statement' date=' you're basically saying that you expect your bribe to get you that egg crate, ice and all that ahead of every else. If you weren't expecting "immediate action," why don't you just do what most people do. Don't "bribe" but when you meet your cabin steward, greet them nicely by name, shake his hand. Most likely he will ask you if you need anything then. If not, don't hit him with your long list of requests (things like an extra ship's newsletter can be requested later...in fact, if I want one, I know I can stop by the front desk later on when things are quiet). But once you hand over a handful of cash, it's as if you're extracting some promise. Sorry, but we generally get great service without making a bunch of demands along with a bribe.[/quote']

Nothing makes me happier than hearing about your wonderful service. Mine service is always tops.[emoji2]
