Who cares whether it is caused a gluten allergy or sensitivity?! You may be tired of people being on the gluten free band wagon but it is a problem for many and the sensitivity is increasing! thru GMO and hybrids, wheat has become an intolerance in a large % of the public, it is estimated 1 in 7 people have a gluten intolerance. My husband went years with strange symptoms that no doctor could diagnose until we went to a naturopath who figured it out, this was almost 20 years ago. took him off of gluten, all the issues went away. He is not celiac, just very sensitive to gluten.

Even the most generous number I could find suggests 1 in 17 Americans (no worldwide studies I could see) have a gluten sensitivity (milder than intolerance) or intolerance, and that's from a study with serious sample bias who found their samples through people who eat gluten-free by choice. There is no way 1 in 7 people cannot eat gluten.

If people find not eating gluten makes them feel healthier and eliminates digestive problems or if they have Celiac or other diseases diagnosed, I say they should absolutely be the stewards of their own health or even just comfort. If they think that's what works, I think they should go for it.

HOWEVER, I don't see how your statement (about the 1 in 7 OR about it having anything to do with GMO) has any basis in fact.

Exactly. Also, GMO wheat is not used commercially in the US so eating wheat and having a gluten sensitivity has nothing to do with GMO's

The reason so many people are on the Gluten free bandwagon is that they think that a bit of gas and diarrhea means they are gluten intolerant.

I watched a show on TV (forget which one) but there were asking people about eating a gluten free diet and most of them didn't even know what gluten was!

I'm glad someone else heard the mystery noise. I was on the fascination November 30th and woke up my cabin mate on night two thinking the ships horn was blowing. Weird

did you ever find out what the noise was or where it was coming from.

Following..... We are to sail her in May and I would hate for them not to have found the problem/location/cause of this mysterious noise.

And if any has sailed since and not had an issue that would be nice to heat too. Maybe giving you deck name and room number for comparisons.

We were on this sailing and were in cabin U174 which is port aft. Our muster station was "E" and we had to wait in the Puttin on the Ritz lounge for about an hour before we got our orders to go up to the life boats. They did however explain that if you could not go up stairs to stay put and they would assit you to an elevator, try this during a real emergency. We did not set foot in the MDR at all throughout this cruise. We had pastries, fruit, coffee, and juice delivered to the cabin every morning. We ate buffet, pizza, deli and salads the rest of the time on the ship. We snacked locally when in port. The casino had a few smokers when we visited it but spent less than $100 between the both of us. My wife said she thought she heard a horn but it was not enough to keep us awake, I always carry earplugs but did not use them. Our cabin steward Noordam made sure we had everything we needed, ice bucket never went empty. We done self assist getting off and other than people not listening and standing in hall ways, stairwells to think they could get off faster we were the 4th group called and managed without a problem. this was our 2nd cruise on this ship and it is local for us is why we choose it. I can have a good time just about anywhere. I try to use this phrase, "ATTITUDE, the difference between Ordeal and Adventure!"

Did anyone find out why the FBI boarded us when we got into port?

We were also on this sailing. Other than the bad comedians (repeat shows and on previous sailings with the same shows), and repeat shows in the theater, we had a fairly good time. This was our 5th time on this ship if I recall correctly?

GS Staff was great, MDR staff also were outstanding. As always, stewards and room service staff were excellent, providing everything we asked for in a timely manner!

Food...the new Elegant Night menu without the lobster? It could have been a lot better. When they say Large/Jumbo Shrimp, think popcorn shrimp for those familiar with shrimp here in Florida!:D They used to serve Jumbo Tiger Shrimp with the Lobster, but no more, both are gone on 5 day or less sailings.

I tried several things on the new Elegant night menu, but next time I may just opt for the buffet or the hanger steak with the Jumbo shrimp on the side!!!! :)

Since this was our last sailing on the Fascination, we found it overall just as pleasant as the previous sailings. We just wonder what the Elation will bring to the table.....:confused:

As for the FBI...we did hear a JSO cop outside talking to another JSO officer that several drugs and other similar things were found during disembarkation. Nothing I can confirm...just what we heard.

No, and many staff heard it and some passengers around that area also but not sure whether anybody else reported it. This past May on the Valor I heard an odd noise in the wall, I did report it because after 59 cruises you know whats normal and what isn't, needless to say, its a good thing I did report it as there was a water pipe broken, so when I heard this noise its only natural that I mention it. We were at the casino bar one evening and somebody else overheard us talking how we can't get sleep they said they also hear the noise. What I did the last two nights was turn the ac to its highest point where the fan made noise and we were finally able to get sleep.

CajunCruizer2- You heard the noise less than us because the noise came from above us not below.

I have not heard why the FBI boarded but to be this quiet and no news it had to be a big deal...if it were a fight, argument, sex offense, you be sure we hear it here or in the media.

Niatpac9- This cruise was my 60th, NEVER had any of these issues ever so why would I stop cruising???? I had a great time because any cruise is better than no cruise. ;)

Since you asked:

2- I am disabled, live with chronic muscle and joint pain, when they said I had to climb steps I asked if I can take an elevator up and the woman put both her hands up and shrugged her shoulders and said "oh well", you have no choice

Was this during the muster drill that they wouldn't let you use the stairs? This is really disappointing to hear. I don't blame you for being upset.

Luggage is supposed to be fast-tracked with FTTF. Make sure your luggage gets an orange sticker.

I cannot find that anywhere in the description of its benefits. Not saying you are wrong, just that I couldn't find it.

They did tag my luggage with a FTTF s ticker though but it made no difference. I thought it was perk of FTTF as well but after the cruise, I looked it up and couldn't find it to mention in the review.

Its under FAQ- FTTF

Express Luggage

Your luggage will be expedited to your stateroom so you can unpack and don your cruise attire first!

Note: This is a benefit for VIFP Diamond and Platinum guests.

We ALWAYS have gotten FTTF and boarded first to go right to our room to find our luggage already arrived.

We have made about 10 or more cruises on this ship. If your cabin was aft you are probably hearing the minute computer-controlled navigation rudder adjustments. They just won't admit it - there is also an elevator that was vibrating in the shaft last time we were on her. As for dietary issues, the assistant matre'd is supposed to bring you a menu for the next night and put together your restricted choices - and the flour-less chocolate melting is out of this world!! Next cruise, talk with the Matre'd first night out - I bet they will be on it.

As for muster, go to Customer Service/Guest Services as soon as you board; I have a note from my doctor that I give them, and they change our muster to "F" where we sit in chairs on the Lido and they make a list of passengers who may need assistance in the event of an emergency. No prob!

nycruiser2006 I am so sorry, we didn't take them home but I have to look and see if I have last years, it was pretty much the same with different bands and all.

JayDeeJay- The maitre'd and assistant NEVER even introduced themselves neverless helped me. I had asked our waiter for the cheesecake and flourless chocolate melting cake that was given to me last year and he would just say something be waiting for me tomorrow only nothing was. Very disappointing but Christmas is soon here so I have my share of desserts finally lol.

You are absolutely correct...the wife and I were in one of the very back ocean view cabins on Main deck...just debarked Saturday. We heard the noise as well, but it was VERY faint and there was no way it would bother us at all sleeping, especially with the A/C on. But yes, we figured out pretty quickly it was when the rudder was being adjusted due the timing at which it occurred.
