Free and Easy Posted December 12, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 12, 2015 We shall start our Falls journey from the Brazil side, then crossing into the Argentina side. Since we'll need Argentina money on the Argentina side, wonder what is the best way to do money exchange at the blue rate? Is it safe to get the taxi driver to take us to a local money exchange first? Any advice appreciated!
Rare Keith1010 Posted December 12, 2015 #2 Share Posted December 12, 2015 Yes, get an official taxi to take you to a money exchange store to get some local currency. Don't exchange money on the street. Keith
Free and Easy Posted December 12, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted December 12, 2015 Thank you, Keith. Typically is that going to be an exchange operating openly in a store on the street, or some kind of back-street shop :( ??
Rare Keith1010 Posted December 12, 2015 #4 Share Posted December 12, 2015 Free and Easy, there are traditional money exchange stores and those are where I would go. I would stay clear of those trying to sell you money on the street. Keith

Eightydays Posted December 13, 2015 #6 Share Posted December 13, 2015 We too will be going to Iguazu before our cruise and flying to IGU from Rio, and then on to Buenos Aires. Based on my research on Tripadvisor, you have 2 options to get Argentine pesos on the way from IGU to Puerto Iguazu. The first is at "Atlas Cambio" which is next to a gas station on the way to downtown Foz do Iguazu, but not too out of the way. I actually located the building using Google Earth. The second appears to be at the border crossing, at "Frontier Turismo & Cambio, Av. Mercosul 400 /Jardim Veraneio. There also appears to be a large Mall on the main road in Puerto Iguazu that other posters suggest has a Cambio. Hope this helps.
