SeaWatcher65 Posted December 18, 2015 #151 Share Posted December 18, 2015 I enjoyed your review. Thanks! The photos from the Manhattan look good to me.... but many people complain. Last NCL cruise, we did all specialty dining dinners (Cagney's was the best). Do you think the specialty restaurants are much better than the Manhattan Dining Room? loupana Posted December 18, 2015 Author #152 Share Posted December 18, 2015 I enjoyed your review. Thanks! The photos from the Manhattan look good to me.... but many people complain. Last NCL cruise, we did all specialty dining dinners (Cagney's was the best). Do you think the specialty restaurants are much better than the Manhattan Dining Room? I was a little disappointed in the Manhattan Room on Escape but was very pleased on the Getaway. Service was poor on Escape, mostly small stuff like not getting water refilled, more often than not they had to go looking for salt and pepper, no plates for the dinner rolls, slow service. Add a couple of my dinner choices I just didn't enjoy and couldn't finish. I wish I got the dining package for the Escape, I was fine with the Tropicana Room on the Getaway, but if I ever cruise Norwegian again I will for sure buy the dining package. loupana Posted December 18, 2015 Author #153 Share Posted December 18, 2015 We didn't set an alarm for disembarkation day since we were not in a hurry. We were spending the night back at the Intercontinental Miami so we ate breakfast in Taste then took our time leaving. We still did self disembark but was I surprised with how quick it was. We exited on deck 7 forward through O'Sheehan's, there was a small line just to swipe you card exiting the ship. No line going through customs. We had our customs forms filled out and on the way out the officers just collected the forms and never even looked at our passports or asked questions. We were back at the Intercontinental Miami by 10:30 AM. It was raining December 5th so that killed our Hop on Hop off bus tour plans. We were allowed to check in early which was awesome. Hotel was now decorated for Christmas All the jars by the Gingerbread house had candy that you could help yourself. You can see a green plate in front of the house that had a spoon and tongs and I believe they had little bags you can fill up for yourself. Our room this night didn't have the same view we had last week... ToroToro restaurant had a lunch special it was all you can eat salad, rice and taco's for $25 per person which included all you can drink Mexican beer...It was fantastic. We had some friends joining us for the Getaway cruise, so since it was raining we just waited and relaxed at the hotel for them to arrive. Friends arrived around 5PM, by now rain was off and on so we just ventured out to bayside market and had cuban sandwiches for dinner. Friends were tired from traveling all day so we called it an early night.
loupana Posted December 18, 2015 Author #154 Share Posted December 18, 2015 We were all up early December 6th so we ended up going to port early. Took Uber to the port and again it was just over $11. Arrived at port around 9:30AM. Friends were bringing soda and water onboard and at the luggage drop off area they wouldn't take the pop. They would only take the water and only if it wasn't in a bag. So they wasted a few minutes moving things around before we headed to security. Friends now annoyed they had to lug the soda with them. The person we dealt with for checkin didn't know how to swipe my credit card from my account setup. He kept telling me my card won't work and I needed another one for the account. I kept telling him last week I swiped my card on the scanner on top of the counter and he kept trying the one down by his computer. He refused to let me swipe it on the one I used last week. He made us try a couple more cards, another I had and one of my wife's until I finally convinced him to just let me swipe it where I did last week. Guess what it worked immediately. Finally we were now heading to get our boarding pass. At 10:15 we are now in the waiting area With... Last week we boarded just before 11:30 but this week we started boarding at 11:50. I believe it was slightly delayed because once we got onboard they were setting up Christmas Decorations, but I could be wrong.

loupana Posted December 18, 2015 Author #156 Share Posted December 18, 2015 I decided I wanted Vibe Passes for this week, have never tried it before and since we were early I thought why not. I went straight to guest services and I don't think I saw anyone else getting vibe passes. I was expecting a line or a wait, but no got them right away... After I got the pass I headed up to the Flamingo Grill to meet everyone for lunch

loupana Posted December 19, 2015 Author #159 Share Posted December 19, 2015 Toured around the ship and took a few photo's of Cagney's and Moderno. I've eaten at both on the Breakaway, but this trip the only specialty restaurant we ate at was the Illusionarium.
loupana Posted December 19, 2015 Author #160 Share Posted December 19, 2015 Just like Breakaway and Escape the Prime Meridian Bar located between Cagney's and Moderno Nice view of the Tropicana Room from above (There's a good chance I may mistakenly call this the Manhattan Room during this review, bonus points for the first to correct me) Walked by the Raw Bar and Wasabi, have never tried either of these Another place I've never visited the Ice Bar

Mikew0805 Posted December 19, 2015 #172 Share Posted December 19, 2015 Taste has a private dining room downstairs... Deck and Engine Q&A with Captain and Chief Engineer in the Theater LOL that is clearly the Epic... not the Breakaway. :)
crusingnut Posted December 19, 2015 #173 Share Posted December 19, 2015 Here is some photos of the ongoing construction at the Tortola port Breakfast again in the Garden Cafe then we headed off to the Baths at the Virgin Gorda Our Transportation to the Virgin Gorda Island On our way... Did you do the Baths on your own? Is that the Speedy boat in your pic? We are thinking of doing this on our own in March. How long were you in port? Was it tight getting back to the ship for sail away? How much was the round trip boat & taxi transport? Sorry for so many questions just not sure whether to take ship excursion or on our own, have read conflicting reviews.
