Orleanscruiser Posted February 7, 2016 #101 Share Posted February 7, 2016 please don't think i was implying you were calling it fraud. There have been several who have though. What i believe to be fraudulent is ncl continuing to take people's money for the obc. There are reports of them taking funds for obc beyond $1000 within the last couple of days. We even tested them, as we were in the midst of elevating our complaint (since we kept getting different as swears as to obc limits, policy changes and "technical glitches" and were able to purchase more. We allowed them to sell us an additional thousand, just to see if it wojod go through, it did. That was 3 days ago. The policy change supposedly took effect jan 21 (if one is to believe one of the many stories we have been told by ncl ). time to let go
Jocecruise Posted February 7, 2016 #102 Share Posted February 7, 2016 Has anyone just bought obc and pay the 3% to cash in at casino then take the cash home. At those rates of 1.16 I'm thinking about it. It costs me around 1.4 at the bank to exchange Well, not to bring hone but to pay my private excursions in Port !!! casofilia Posted February 7, 2016 #103 Share Posted February 7, 2016 Hello DKsask Lots of people did. Then they started bragging on here about it. NCL latched on to that, along with their own bean counters, and changed the system. Now we are all limited to $1000 per stateroom no matter how many or how long. fshagan Posted February 7, 2016 #104 Share Posted February 7, 2016 I think there may have been a better solution, which wouldn't have upset so many - perhaps crediting unused OBC back to credit cards at the same rate at which it was purchased. I was wondering if they credited back the money in USD. You bought a certain amount of USD for $1.14. If they credit it back in USD you pay an exchange fee but it would be greatly to your benefit if the bank applies the current exchange rate of $1.39 to the funds. From reading the "email" they sent me I think the repayment will be in CAD to my CAD Credit Card. Here is a post I did elsewhere:- Those Canadians who forward bought OBC at 1.07 or 1.11 could have bought USD at (say) 1.12 or 1.16 at the time from their bank. If NCL refund the CAD amount that the purchaser bought in todays CAD they will have "bought" the CAD at c1.40. Have they not made about 30c on the dollar at the expense of the Canadians who bought. If the Americans who claimed that the Canadians were guilty of fraud were honest they would accuse NCL of exactly the same thing. Mike
