pvsmyth Posted December 16, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 16, 2015 Do you still need to sign for a drink if you have a drinks package, or is a swipe of your SeaPass card enough?
mlmc424 Posted December 16, 2015 #2 Share Posted December 16, 2015 Depends on the ship/bartender. On our last cruise (Enchantment) I was asked to sign in some bars and not in others.

suss1234 Posted December 16, 2015 #4 Share Posted December 16, 2015 On allure now with a drink package. To be honest it is very strange. Some bars you just show your card and some they print out a receipt. My guess is some are looking for extra tip. I just give a buck each time I get a drink at bar. jdmerck Posted December 16, 2015 #7 Share Posted December 16, 2015 Thanks, that's a plus, even thought 700 for 2 people sounds better then 1...LOL
CarpeCerevisi Posted December 17, 2015 #8 Share Posted December 17, 2015 (edited) Also currently on the Allure. The only place I didn't have to sign the slip was on Labadee and that was only a couple of times. It seems to me to be up to the bartender. rpp77 Posted December 17, 2015 #9 Share Posted December 17, 2015 I thought I remember reading on a different post regarding drinks packages that a standard fee for tips were added automatically to your bill at the end of the cruise?

The current price for all unlimited beverage packages includes gratuities. Nothing is added to the bill at the end of the cruise with respect to the unlimited beverage packages. Philly Steve Posted December 17, 2015 #11 Share Posted December 17, 2015 Royal does not require both of you to get a package. Yes, unlike other lines (CCL). I appreciate RCI's honor system and would never abuse it. :)

I have been bouncing back and forth on paying almost 700.00 for 1 person which is INSANE but I haven been interested They changed the requirement that both have it, to that each can get whatever they want, back in late 2013. That's an expensive package. Will you actually utilize that? Would your onboard spending for drinks actually hit that dollar mark? Did you know that there are different types of drinks packages? http://media.royalcaribbean.com/content/shared_assets/pdf/menus/beverage_packages.pdf
cruisevv Posted December 17, 2015 #13 Share Posted December 17, 2015 I didn't realize until my last cruise that there was an $8/day soda package. Sneaky royal, its kind of hidden on that flyer as well - http://media.royalcaribbean.com/content/shared_assets/pdf/menus/beverage_packages.pdf
minn0315 Posted December 18, 2015 #14 Share Posted December 18, 2015 On Navigator last week, I gave a $1 usd bill with my Seapass card when I initially ordered a drink. I never had to sign a receipt with that combination. Cash seems to trump a tip on the receipt signing.
minn0315 Posted December 18, 2015 #15 Share Posted December 18, 2015 BTW: I had two $12 glasses of wine with lunch and two $12 glasses of wine with dinner. That plus the gratuity equals a the daily cost of the premium package. Anything beyond that is free; i.e. pool drinks, after dinner drinks, etc. I will always buy this drink package, it's a no-brainer to me.

Did you know that there are different types of drinks packages? http://media.royalcaribbean.com/content/shared_assets/pdf/menus/beverage_packages.pdf It is very expensive since we are doing a 12 night Christmas cruise, I wanted to be able to taste all drinks... plus beer, but then my husband got me thinking if I get a cold on this cruise I won't want to drink, then I wasted all that money, it stinks cause damned if u do, damned if u dont
Goodtime Cruizin Posted December 18, 2015 #17 Share Posted December 18, 2015 (edited) Do you still need to sign for a drink if you have a drinks package, or is a swipe of your SeaPass card enough? No. They print the tix for tips. If you give them a cash tip once, generally the bartender will stop presenting the tix. George C Posted December 18, 2015 #18 Share Posted December 18, 2015 Yes, unlike other lines (CCL). I appreciate RCI's honor system and would never abuse it. :) Also RCCL does not have a limit on amount of drinks like some other lines. only limit is 15 mins between drinks . Had premium package on last 2 cruises and will get it on next.

Had premium package on last 2 cruises and will get it on next. On Freedom in October there was no "15 minute wait time" in between drinks. I think that is put in place to prevent people from getting a drink and then giving it away and then going back for a second. I had a shot at the bar and then about 1-2 minutes later I got a cocktail from the same bartender. They said they had not heard that rule. Probably depends on the ship and the bartender. :-)

I almost believe this is a magical 'myth' on CC as I've never experienced this on 4 different ships.
