CaCanCop Posted December 20, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 20, 2015 I was wondering if the week earlier cruise is not as good weather as later cruise. Earlier cruise is 8 day round trip with more time in Ketchikan and is cheaper. Will the weather make that much of a difference. Thank you in advance for your wisdom!! stobe1 Posted December 20, 2015 #2 Share Posted December 20, 2015 (edited) I don't think one week will make that much of a difference one way or another. All things being equal, go with the longer, cheaper cruise. Edited December 20, 2015 by stobe1
Uncwrn93 Posted December 20, 2015 #3 Share Posted December 20, 2015 Alaskan weather is hard to tell. We went on our cruise in the middle of June and it was 50-60's where in May it was in the 70's. Chances are in mid-May you will have cooler weather. As long as you go with plans for cooler weather most likely you'll be fine
Budget Queen Posted December 21, 2015 #4 Share Posted December 21, 2015 Based on a long history, mid May and later is my preference. ONE week CAN be a difference as the early and late season goes through significant changes. You only note more time in Ketchikan, There HAS to be other differences? Both go to Glacier Bay? Bigger problem is- IF you are thinking about weather and Alaska- it is a big mistake. :) You need to be well prepared for a wide range, including a lined coat, hat and gloves, along with a pair of shorts. I suggest you figure out NOW, before you book, WHAT you want to do in the ports and what excursions you are going on. There may be a few that aren't available the earlier week?
