Rare MVPinBoynton Posted October 5, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 5, 2005 What sad news. Thank you for letting everyone know. I am so glad that we got to see it when we were there last month. Here is a link to a newspaper article that says that they will be rebuilding it. They also have pictures in the article. It is a real shame since they were going to be using it to celebrate the Lewis and Clark 200th anniversary next month.
Rare steamboats Posted October 5, 2005 #3 Share Posted October 5, 2005 Thanks for forwarding these sad news! I´ve been there in late August on our cruise on the riverboat Columbia Queen. I know that Fort Clatsop is a (included) shore tour on all three riverboats on the Columbia River (Columbia Queen, Queen of the West and Empress of the North). It´s been a very nice place. The tour was great and the park rangers in the replica did a great job explaining the life during the time of Lewis & Clark. There´s still quite a lot to see (the museum, two movies, the landing, the canoes) but sure the replica was the main attraction and I hope they are able to rebuild it very soon. steamboats
