Taxis at Port Canaveral?

My parents are going on a Carnival cruise that stops at Port Canaveral. They want to visit the Kennedy Space Center, but feel the cruise ship excursion is overpriced (roughly $50 more than the admission cost). They would like to know how easy it would be to get a taxi from the port, and how much it would cost.

 

I have cruised several times from Port Canaveral, but never looked for a cab because we usually have a rental car. Does anyone have any knowledge on availability and cost, or any other ideas for how to get from the ship to the space center and back?

taxi will probably exceed that $50

 

consider a one day rental car .. they can be had for around $35

(but you need to SHOP for this price)

I am also curious as how accessible taxis are at Port Canaveral, are they as prominent as they are at Miami port?
