Do NCL have any ships in Istanbul today ?

Just breaking on news a suicide attack took place in Istanbul this morning . It was in the main square near Blue mosque / Topakali palace . 10 dead and 15 injured .Terrible news

The Epic is currently the only NCL ship in Europe and it doesn't go it Istanbul.

 

Many future cruises to Istanbul had been cancelled already. According to the UK site, the Spirit is still due to go there during the Summer, but I wonder whether this will have an impact on that.

I expect your right there will no doubt be changes in itinerary due to this and i can see this impacting all the major cruise lines that call at Istanbul .Such a beautiful city i don`t think i`ll be back for a while .God bless all those poor innocent people xx

When I checked a while back, Istanbul was no longer listed either as a port or as an option for Shore Excursions.

 

If you're booked on a cruise with Istanbul as a port of call, do you have any SE available? Just wondering if it's another snafu on the website or if it has been totally removed.

 

I had looked at the itinerary of the Spirit thinking the itin. was awesome but DH and friends refused to book it so now we're not cruising at all this year :eek:

 

And I still have to figure out what's up with the Jade for 2017. :(

All I know for sure is that our cruise on the Spirit next Easter has been changed to remove Istanbul and I believe that the Star has also had some similar changes.

 

As I'm not looking at booking anything else until summer 2017 itineraries are released, I haven't been keeping up to date with other changes. It is entirely possible that the Summer 2016 Grand Med sailings have also been changed and I wouldn't trust the UK site at the moment, but it is still listed there at the moment.

 

We did the Grand Med last Summer and really loved Istanbul.

We are on the spirit in summer and are due in Istanbul on 20 August. It's still showing in my NCL and I've not had any messages from them?

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread, there's so much terrible and devastating news, so sad. I guess our wish for peace in 2017 has a ways to go and so many more will suffer, unfortunately.

I called NCL. The Spirit will no longer do Turkey beginning in November 2016.
