Ivy86 Posted January 13, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2016 :confused:Hello When getting off the cruise on Papeete any idea where we could leave our luggage for the day while we spend some time on the island? Thank you in advance for all suggestions.
FlightMedic555 Posted January 13, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 13, 2016 Most of us take that late flight. You can store it for a fee at the airport or rent a day room at a hotel and take it with you. You could also arrange for a tour on Tahiti and take it with you. You could also rent a car by the pier, tour around with your luggage, and drop the car at the airport before your flight. WAVTAM Posted January 14, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 14, 2016 Most people have these late flights and ask if the cruise line will whole your bags in back room. You do check out of your room, but we have done this 3 times back in the Tahitian Princess days and Princess just check your bags into specialty restaurant. Tour the island. Had dinner on ship ,got bags and left to airport.
roothy123 Posted January 19, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 19, 2016 We are due to disembark in Papeete in less than a week. We don't have a night flight, as the cruise line has chartered a couple flights to the U.S. However, I did notice that for people purchasing cruise line transfers (on Oceania, anyway), the cruise line holds your carryon baggage at the City Hall lounge and you pick it up when you're headed to the airport. I believe they also take your checked luggage to the airport so you don't have to deal with it. Cruise line transfers are always expensive, but at least in this case, they are offering a good way to sightsee without having to worry about bags, even carryon bags. FlightMedic555 Posted January 19, 2016 #6 Share Posted January 19, 2016 I think the OP has arranged their own air. On Paul Gauguin is you use their air it also includes a day room after the cruise but before the flight. In that case they take your bags on the bus to the hotel and then you can access them before they are taken to the airport in the evening. If you arrange the air yourself then you unfortunately have to contend with arranging for your luggage yourself.
