International Cafe on Island Princess

I just looked at all three Island Princess deck plans (present-May 11 2016; May 11 2016-May 10 2017; May 10 2017-onward) and none show an International Cafe.

Perhaps you were fooled by the large bold label of the Internet Cafe at the top of the atrium on Emerald Deck?

Unfortunately, for whatever reason, no International Cafe was added during her major drydock and I doubt one will be added in the future [emoji22]

It may be just as well. The IC on the Coral is scrunched in next to the Casino. Very noisy and limited seating, we only went once on our New Year's cruise. Not a pleasant place.

The Island Princess has been reconfigured for the Asian market where it is moving sometime after mid 2017. 119 new cabins were added and several things like international cafe and the teen club removed. Another downgrade of the reconfiguration is you can no longer have 3 or 4 people in the same cabin in any category. IMHO the Island Princess is no longer worth sailing on.

There are 152 new cabins, I did not see anything Asian about the Island Princess in Nov on our cruise, There was never an IC, the teen club was moved right across from our cabin, we had 3 people in our cabin and 2 families we traveled with had 4 in their cabins.:confused::confused:

We just got back from the Island Princess in Dec. The cabins that were added, only

have two persons per cabin. Other cabins can hold four persons. There was never an

IC on the ship. Plus the atrium is quite small, the balloon drop NYE was held there and

it was quite crowded.

I just spoke to a customer service person at Princess. She said the Island is going into another refurbishment after her 4/23 sailing and more cabins will be added. I asked where they could be possibly added but she didn't know.

Yikes I hope not. There is no room to add anymore cabins.

I was told by 2 persons at Princess headquarters that the new cabins would only have

two persons. Because they were concerned about the increase of passengers with no

addition of public space and no increase in employees.

I have no problem with the IC on the Coral. Yes its smaller, but still wonderful, great food and with lots of choices, just less back up pastries in the case. I've seen complaints about smoke from casino, but it never was a problem for me.

This is the area on deck 5 (Plaza) that has speciality coffees available, and fresh brewed. I saw very few pastries, even in the morning. Nothing like the International Cafe that is open 24/7 with many options. We still had a great cruise on the Island, but I did miss sitting in the Atrium area having a coffee and lunch. (or afternoon dessert)

I can understand why they would do that, but there are still many cabins with additional berths and many were being used.

You can see the impact of the additional passengers due to the additional cabins and the missing lounges/space etc.

Our cruise had major issues with lines at AT dining. It was a mess with all the additional passengers. Lines started at 5 and continued until 8:30 every night.

Shows in the Princess theater were standing room only.

Pre IC there were never more then a couple of trays of pastries/finger sandwiches at La Patisserie on the Coral/Island. Pretty lame.

My biggest beef with the Island coffee bar is that it isn't open until 6 a.m. For those who wake up early, there's nowhere to go for coffee.
