Thompson Miami Beach to POM

My wife & I currently have a reservation at the Thompson Miami Beach for 2 nights pre-cruise in November (checking in Nov 9th).

It looks like a beautiful hotel with a nice beach.

In another thread, someone said it is a major pain to get from Mid Beach to the Port of Miami. They said traffic is bad, and it could take 40 minutes to get there.

Should we look for a hotel in South Beach instead? The Intercontinental also looks great, but since we're spending 2 nights I would like to be near the beach.

Anyone here have experience taking a taxi from Mid Beach to POM?

We will be heading to the port on a Friday.

After doing a bit more research, I think I will change our hotel to the Mondrian for essentially the same price.

The Mondrian will be much more convenient to get to the port on embarkation day, and looks like a nice hotel.

We will have to take a short cab ride to the beach, but that's OK.

The Mondrian is such a cool hotel! The sunsets will absolutely blow your mind! You'll love the pool!

They also share properties with the Delano and the Shore Club. Don't miss walking through the Delano, have a mojito poolside, make sure you visit Skybar at The Shore Club.

You've made a fantastic choice!

Thank you for the reply.

I'm glad you think we made a good choice in booking the Mondrian. We are excited!

We will definitely follow your advice of visiting the sister properties.

It will be fun researching restaurants, etc., over the coming months.

One of my favorite things to do in South Beach is to bar hop at the stunning hotels.

SLS

One Hotel rooftop bar (you MUST see the view from their rooftop pool!)

The National (iconic)

The Raleigh (Ester Williams filmed one of her swimming movies there)

Hotel Victor (the jellyfish tank is way cool)

Also, just walking around is tons of fun.

My new favorite restaurant is Havana 1957 on Espanola Way. It's what you think dining would be like alfresco in Havana. Amazing Cuban food!

Havana 1957 looks like the type of restaurant we would definitely enjoy.

I just spent some time looking at their website. The food looks delicious.
