I was on the Oosterdam. Around midnight the captain was asked to participate in a search and rescue. He continued until our ship was released at 5:00 am. We had strong winds and choppy seas last night and this morning as well as going very fast to make up time. Ad of the time the ship left the search area no ship had been found.

I was in the last group to disembark from the ship and that was around 1:15 this afternoon. Guests were given free use of the Internet and telephones to change their airplane reservations. If you booked through HAL they did it and notified you in your room as to your new time.

It is now 8:45 and I am in the Hyatt Pier 66 watching our ship which has not moved and no smoke coming out of her smokestacks. We were told by someone local, and I do not know if it is true or not, that if she doesn't leave by 9:00 she will be spending the night here.

The ship was two sea days after it leaves here.

Thanks for the first-hand account.

Good she was able to get away tonight.

I don't see anyone outside behind the Crow's Nest, so I guess the roll call decided to go to dinner instead!:)

I imagine so; it's after 9PM on the ship.

That's it for me, goodnight everyone!

Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)

-Glad I waited and was able to see the O leave. We are cruising on the NA Sunday - we will be the ones waving - Rotterdam deck 7 just forward of the glass elevators - waving a Canadian flag!!

With all the time I spent watching the Oosterdam saga today, It was just not meant to be for me to see it sail in or out!

Got called away again with the building issues we have and I come back and she is out at sea.

Oh well... Bon Voyage Oosterdam, finally!
