ncklhaus Posted March 6, 2016 Author #451 Share Posted March 6, 2016 We slept late today as we really had no plans for the day. Melissa wanted to go to Splash Academy for Kids vs Counselors but that wasn't until 3pm. So we hit the main pool for a while. But before going to the pool we had lunch and spent some time in the Haven lounge and I took pictures of the drink menus.
ncklhaus Posted March 6, 2016 Author #452 Share Posted March 6, 2016 We went back to our room to change for the pool. Remember yesterday when we had that terrible excursion? When we arrived in our room, we found this. Classy move.
ncklhaus Posted March 6, 2016 Author #453 Share Posted March 6, 2016 We went to the pool and it was the busiest I have seen it. Granted, everyone was on the ship because it was a sea day, but it wasn't packed. We swam for a while, and then I decided to just chill in a chair. And then I saw this...... .....eew,gross. That baby was in and out of the pool in a regular diaper. The staff didn't say anything to the family, but I had no problem telling Melissa quite loudly to get out of the pool because there are people there not following the rules and have their baby in the pool in a diaper. People like that ruin things for the rest of us. And as you can see in previous pictures, they did have a staffer in the yellow shirt keeping an eye on the pool. So I had Melissa get out of the pool and she went to the splash area. No babies in diapers there at the moment. But it was getting really hot out. It was a pleasant surprise when the wait staff came around handing out free ices to everyone.
ncklhaus Posted March 6, 2016 Author #454 Share Posted March 6, 2016 I went over to the main pool area to get a drink and they were having some event on the stage. By this time we were starting to hit some rough waters and you could really feel the movement. You can really see the waves in the pool in this video Bartender competition video I got myself a Moscow Mule. Yummy and strong. And now they were handing out Fresh fruit skewers. ncklhaus Posted March 6, 2016 Author #455 Share Posted March 6, 2016 (edited) Fun in the Splash area The drinks were good and strong, so against my better judgement, I let Melissa go back in the pool. The diaper baby was gone and there is so much salt in the pool I was willing to let her swim. My Moscow Mule and Melissa's Shirley Temple Then it was back to the room to get Melissa changed for Splash Academy I picked her up at 4:30 and we went back to the room to get changed for dinner. We had 5:15 reservations for Le Bistro. Melissa wanted to go back to Splash Academy by 7 for World Domination. ncklhaus Posted March 6, 2016 Author #457 Share Posted March 6, 2016 We arrive at Le Bistro at 5:15 and are promptly seated. Our waiter comes over and we give him our order, drinks, appetizers, and main courses right away and we tell him that Melissa needed to be at Splash Academy at 7. No problem. Not quite. This picture was taken at 5:43, 23 minutes after being seated and the only thing we had was our drinks and some bread. Around 6:15, the appetizers came out, and at 7pm we still.did not have our main courses. It wasn't because they were busy, because when we arrived we were one of maybe 3 tables. But other people were showing up and getting seated since and some of the tables that came after us had their entire meals finished before 7pm. Our waiter kept telling us that our meals would be right out, starting at around 6:30. By 7 we were telling the waiter not to bother with the main courses anymore and to just bring the check. But he insisted that the chef was putting the final touches on our meals. At 7:15, 2 hours after we were first seated and placed our orders, the food came. By then I didn't even want it anymore, but I picked at it a little. We told the waiter to bring the check. By 7:25, weedy Le Bistro and had Melissa at Splash Academy by 7:30. We went back to the room and found this guy And this plate of fruit We went to the casino for a while and I discovered this slot machine. I put $20 in and BLAMMO I hit for a little bit. I would go back to that machine again and do well. Mike hit on Wheel of Fortune again! I picked up Melissa and we decided to go find the room we were in last year. She was so excited to see the room number outside the door. LOL Since we didn't eat much at Le Bistro, we stopped at the Garden Buffet for a snack before heading back to our room for the night. ncklhaus Posted March 9, 2016 Author #462 Share Posted March 9, 2016 The seas were starting to get rough and would get really bad later in the day. Good thing we had MotionEaze with us. We had also run out of children's Dramamine, so I went to Guest Services and they gave me packs of motion sickness pills, 2 per pack. 1 pill was equal to 1 children's dose. The water didn't look rough yet and the waves were only around 8 feet so far.
ncklhaus Posted March 9, 2016 Author #463 Share Posted March 9, 2016 I decided to let Mike and Melissa sleep in and used the coffee machine in our room to make a nice cup of Espresso. After they got up, we went to breakfast in the Haven Fruits de mer. Mike liked it, but it wasn't my favorite
gmazz Posted March 9, 2016 #464 Share Posted March 9, 2016 I loved having an expression from the lavazzo when we were on the POA. Our balcony was huge, just under 200 square feet huge, and I loved sipping as we pulled into port. ncklhaus Posted March 9, 2016 Author #465 Share Posted March 9, 2016 While we were in the Haven the Captain came on the PA and gave us an update on our position and the weather conditions that we were heading into. He called it a Low Pressure System and would be keeping us updated through the day. I took Melissa to Splash Academy and Mike and I went to play Bingo. We didn't win. :(

ncklhaus Posted March 9, 2016 Author #467 Share Posted March 9, 2016 Melissa really loved Splash Academy. After picking her up at 12, we went back to the room and decided what to do for the rest of the afternoon. We would do the ropes course again and she did the Spider Climb. We decided to go to Wasabi for sushi and got there just before they were going to close. It was around 1:45 and they closed at 2. We were the only customers there. ncklhaus Posted March 9, 2016 Author #468 Share Posted March 9, 2016 Edamame Two timing tuna roll After we ate, we went to the pool deck and hit the slides for a while. We were doing the Blue open top slide a bunch of times and then we would do the purple and yellow "Whip" slides and race each other down. After around 5 times of racing, Melissa said something hurt her while going down the slide. I look into to area that you come out of the slide and I find a rusty bolt or screw that must have fallen out of the slide. Holy crap! She's not really hurt, but does have a scratch on her knee. We were done with the slides now. I took the screw with me and went back into the Haven. I brought the the screw to the Concierge and told them what happened. They were shocked and genuinely upset that she could have been seriously injured. The Concierge offered for her to get checked out by the Ships Doctor, but I didn't think it was necessary. We went back to the room and showered. Then Melissa asked if she could go back to Splash Academy until 5. Ok. If you really want to. So I guess she's alright and her knee isn't hurting. ncklhaus Posted March 9, 2016 Author #470 Share Posted March 9, 2016 I was going to pick Melissa up at 5, but the phone in the room rings at 4:30. Melissa wants me to come get her. Her knee is bothering her. I picked her up and brought her back to the room and gave her some ibuprofen. She got dressed for dinner tonight, we had 8:15 reservations at Moderno with the 2 other families we had been hanging out with. We went to the Haven lounge and Anoop the Concierge was talking to her and he said that we should go to the Medical Center just to be safe and have it documented. What if when you go home and she's has a problem with her knee? So off we went to have the doctor check her out. Boy, I was seriously impressed with the set up they have there. It's just like an Urgent Care Center. The waiting room Hallway to treatment rooms Reception Desk In the treatment room
ncklhaus Posted March 9, 2016 Author #471 Share Posted March 9, 2016 (edited) Do you want to see the horrible scratch that brought us here? Yep. That's it. LOL But the doctor said she would need a tetanus shot if she hadn't had one recently. I knew she was up to date with her immunizations so he didn't give her one. The doctor was really wonderful with her. He also said that her knee was a little swollen and a little warm compared to the other one, and to keep an eye on it. Security also came to talk to us to find out exactly what had happened. They were sending maintenance to check out the slides and make sure they were safe. We were not charged for our visit to the Medical Center. Edited March 9, 2016 by ncklhaus

Kattus Posted March 10, 2016 #473 Share Posted March 10, 2016 Ouch! Could have been a lot worse, she was lucky! I too am impressed with how NCL handled it (then again, it was 100% their fault). Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

When we were returning last spring from a 9 day Eastern Caribbean on the Gem, I was trying to spot the island out in the distance, but I know that's crazy lol Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
