snowbell55 Posted March 11, 2016 #476 Share Posted March 11, 2016 Really enjoying this trip review. You have a nice writing style that makes it feel like we're right there with you. Plus all the food pics :D. Really messed up about the screw though, but glad she's okay. Like you'd said it could've been much worse.
ncklhaus Posted March 12, 2016 Author #477 Share Posted March 12, 2016 I always found it interesting how "close" the ship gets to Bermuda on the return trip that bears much further east IMO. When we were returning last spring from a 9 day Eastern Caribbean on the Gem, I was trying to spot the island out in the distance, but I know that's crazy lol Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk I've always heard about how the trip back from Bermuda gets rocky for a day. I wonder if that's why it got so bad on the next to last night. Hmm.

ncklhaus Posted March 12, 2016 Author #479 Share Posted March 12, 2016 After our Pit Stop to the Medical Center, we went back to the room and took Melissa to Splash Academy for around an hour. She really wanted to go and since they opened at 7, we said what the heck. Mike and I grabbed a quick drink. We were meeting up with our friends at Moderno at 8:15. I snapped a picture of the reservation board. Waiting outside Moderno Goof balls Cagney's and Moderno share an entrance
ncklhaus Posted March 12, 2016 Author #480 Share Posted March 12, 2016 Artwork in the hall leading to the restaurant Kiddo waiting patiently We all met up and we had a table for 10. I have never heard of HP Sauce but apparently it is similar to A1. I thought I took a bunch of pictures tonight at dinner but I don't seem to be able to find them. I do have lots of photos that the professional photographers took but I'm not sharing them until the end of the review. Tee Hee. We had a blast at Moderno. We ate and drank and laughed so hard we had tears streaming down our faces. It was one of the greatest times we had on the cruise. Did I mention that we ate? I made the mistake of eating a lot off the salad bar so I wasn't able to eat THAT much of the meats. But I did eat more than my fair share. The ship was starting to rock a bit but we didn't really notice it until much later.
gmazz Posted March 12, 2016 #481 Share Posted March 12, 2016 I've always heard about how the trip back from Bermuda gets rocky for a day. I wonder if that's why it got so bad on the next to last night. Hmm. Our first Bermuda cruise back in 1993 we had nasty seas and a rain after leaving Bermuda before dinner time. People were sick everywhere and after a few hours hubby was green to. We were rocking so much that when you walked down the hall with every few steps the floor would meet your foot that you just took off the floor as you walked or bounced off the walls. Made the mistake of trying to eat breakfast in our room the next morning, yeah that was an epic fail! Had to keep the tray of food and coffee in the floor and held it with our feet so it didn't slide all around the room! That was fun. :p When we went to Bermuda last June it was perfect. Sunny and the Seas were so calm you didn't have any idea you were on the water. The way back was perfect to. Got my fingers and toes crossed for the same trip this year, we are going the same week to. Sent from my XT1080 using Forums mobile app

That kind of sounds like what it was like for us on our last sea day. But that's coming up soon. I am usually really good with heavy seas but even I was saying "stop the ride, I want to get off!" ncklhaus Posted March 14, 2016 Author #483 Share Posted March 14, 2016 We went back to our room after dinner and noticed that we were really rocking! It was hard to walk without holding on to something. Closet doors were opening, dishes and glassware were sliding around. We had around 40 foot seas! We didn't let Melissa sleep in the top bunk tonight. Actually, we had her stay in our bed between us. She was a bit scared to be alone. It was really intense. I actually said to myself "Stop the ride, I want to get off!" We didn't get seasick, but I can only imagine that many people must have. Throughout the night, it started to get a little better and the seas calmed down a little bit. No more 40 foot seas. By morning, it was down to 26 foot seas. :p

ncklhaus Posted March 14, 2016 Author #486 Share Posted March 14, 2016 Today the Splash Academy has their Super Stars at Sea performance. The kids practice all week for this show. If your child wants to perform in it, they have to go to the final rehearsal at 10am. So I dropped her off and after I did the Captain comes on the PA system with the morning update. Basically he tells us our position and the water depth but he says that what we are experiencing is from a Low Pressure System. The outside decks are closed due to high winds, 58 mph, and the waves are still at around 26 feet. Pleas

He also says that the waves will be getting less throughout the day. If you want to hear the announcement, click on the thumbnail below. It's 3 minutes long. I decide to go check out the waves from the atrium windows. If you watched Seinfeld, you'll agree when I say "The sea was angry that day....like an old man sending back soup in a deli." ncklhaus Posted March 14, 2016 Author #488 Share Posted March 14, 2016 So Melissa is at Splash Academy, Mike is hanging out in the Haven, and I'm free to do what I want until I need to pick her up at 12. What should I do? I know, go to the casino and see if the slots are friendly. It's the last day so why not? I get to the casino around 10:30, pick a slot machine, put in $20, push the button, and BLAMMO!! Whoop whoop! Holy cow! Cash out at 10:37. Nice. I donate back around $50 over the next hour until I go get the kiddo. We decide to go have lunch in the Haven restaurant. ncklhaus Posted March 14, 2016 Author #489 Share Posted March 14, 2016 All outside access was closed. You could really hear the wind whistling through the doors. Drop off for Splash Academy was at 2pm and all kids had to be there by 2:45 for the show. We were to go to the theater at 3:15 for the show. I wanted to buy a photo package so I went to the photo gallery to see how many pictures I wanted to get. I picked out 50! But some of them were mislabeled. Some of our Cagney's photos were labeled Moderno, so they would have to fix them. I would have to come back tonight after 8pm to pick them up. Or the nice photographer man said he could also provide free delivery right to my stateroom! Umm, what? No thank you. On my way back up to the room to meet up with Mike, I passed by O'Sheehan's and the Sabrett hot dog cart was set up there. I couldn't resist. It was around 2:20 and I had just eaten that burger around 30 minutes earlier.

I'm almost done. :( Guess I'll have to book another one! Yes, the seas were something else. But it was the best sleep I had! I guess it rocked me to sleep like a baby. ncklhaus Posted March 16, 2016 Author #492 Share Posted March 16, 2016 We arrived at the Theater at 3:15 for the show. We are big mushes and always wind up crying during it. LOL. They always seem to do the same acts during the show and this time was no different, but we still enjoyed it. One of the older kids acts as the Master of Ceremonies. He did a really great job. ncklhaus Posted March 16, 2016 Author #493 Share Posted March 16, 2016 During the show there is an act where they have the "Ugliest Person In The World" under a shroud. They have people attempt to look at him without fainting. The first three people to attempt it are children from the kids club. They "faint". Then they ask for a "Brave volunteer from the audience." Of course, I am pointing to my husband and he gets picked! So he goes up onstage and takes the challenge. And the Ugliest Person in the World faints when he sees my husband! I knew what was going to happen, but I was cracking up. He's such a good sport. Here's a video of it. Payback is a beach because then they ask for another volunteer from the audience for a mind reading act and of course he's pointing at me. So guess who goes up on the stage for that one. Yep. That's right. Me. It was so much fun. Did Mike get a video? Of course not! But here's a video of Melissa doing the lasso.
ncklhaus Posted March 16, 2016 Author #494 Share Posted March 16, 2016 The littlest ones are lions and they do tricks. Lay down lions. Then they jump through hoops and roar really loud. So cute. After the show, we wandered around a little. The ship was rocking less but they still had motion sickness bags out. Melissa was feeling good and liked her make up. We had a quick bite to eat and packed our bags. Our last sunset
