PekingeseLady Posted January 18, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 18, 2016 We want to try a Cove Balcony in 2017, which ship would you recommend and why? We fly out of Sacramento, CA so the port doesn't matter. Would like one with a good water slide :p Thanks in advance! :D
steph7021 Posted January 18, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 18, 2016 We will be in our first cove on the Vista in 2017! And it will have the Best water slide!
Indytraveler83 Posted January 18, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 18, 2016 The only options for a cove are the dream class (dream, magic, breeze) and the Vista. None of the other ships have them. Those are the newest ships Carnival has, and all are very nice. I'd look at all 4 and see which trips and itineraries most interest you. Those 4 ships have a lot of options of places to go and trip lengths.
bakersdozen12 Posted January 18, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 18, 2016 I would recommend the Dream for no other reason than it sails out of New Orleans, which is a city you should visit at least once in your lifetime.
ejchron Posted January 18, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 18, 2016 I agree with bakersdozen12. You gotta do NOLA at least once (but you'll want to go back).
BigEasyCC Posted January 18, 2016 #6 Share Posted January 18, 2016 (edited) Did Cove Balcony on the Dream last Jan. Recommend it highly. Just don't get too far to the middle. It's under the galley. We were third or fourth from the front, Port side. Had great views of the waves during rough weather coming back across the Gulf. So nice! Nice and quiet. No issues with noise. etwright Posted January 18, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 18, 2016 Only available on Dream, Magic, Breeze, and soon to be Vista.
beachbum53 Posted January 18, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 18, 2016 The only ship we've been on with cove balconies (so far) is the Breeze, and we're making plans for the Vista. As far as the balcony rooms themselves are concerned, I doubt that it makes much difference. As Indytraveler suggested, look at the itineraries of each (Magic, Dream, Breeze) and decide which one interests you the most. Study the deck plans carefully before choosing your cabin. The one we had on the Breeze was 2268, just below the Excursions Desk area. Fairly quiet (although we had noisy neighbors), no lifeboat directly overhead, and an excellent view of the port and gangway when we docked. The only down side, it's a long walk to the aft elevators to go up to the Lido deck. We typically used those elevators because they were less busy than the forward or mid elevators. However, the long walk did help to burn off some calories. ;)
PekingeseLady Posted January 18, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted January 18, 2016 Thank you everyone for your suggestions. So I think it will be between Dream for new Orleans or the new vista. Hoping carnival has a $50 deposit sale this year.

Hoping carnival has a $50 deposit sale this year. We are on the Dream in a Cove at the end of the week. For a future cruise we are looking at a Vista 8 day southern Caribbean Cove balcony. vwrestler171 Posted January 18, 2016 #11 Share Posted January 18, 2016 I would say Vista or Breeze. Breeze has all the upgrades that Dream doesn't. Plus the decor on the Breeze is so calm and relaxing.
Rare bluejay555 Posted January 18, 2016 #12 Share Posted January 18, 2016 You are going to LOVE the cove! We just booked our 3rd one. In fact, this time around we asked for the exact same cabin as last time because it was such a nice location.
Boozebabe Posted January 19, 2016 #13 Share Posted January 19, 2016 We've done a Cove on the BREEZE 3 times now. A much more updated look to that ship. No more gaudy Farcas decor.

vwrestler171 Posted January 19, 2016 #15 Share Posted January 19, 2016 OK I'm hearing a shout out for the Breeze, so it has upgrades the Dream doesnt. I will have to look into that?? Thanks The Breeze has Guys Burgers, Blue Iguana Cantina, Thrill Theater, Bonsai Sushi. Those are what I know that Dream doesn't have.
PekingeseLady Posted January 19, 2016 Author #16 Share Posted January 19, 2016 That's quite a few things. I haven't sailed out of Galveston either. So Breeze or Vista now.:D Thanks for your reply.
honeybunches Posted January 19, 2016 #17 Share Posted January 19, 2016 Is it true that the Dream class of ships do not have an "adult" pool?

Rare mitsugirly Posted January 19, 2016 #19 Share Posted January 19, 2016 We love the cove balconies and have one booked on the Breeze for March and can't wait. We have been on the Dream and loved it and can only imagine how great the Breeze is going to be since it has "more" to offer than the Dream. :)

Bamagirl_gina Posted January 27, 2016 #21 Share Posted January 27, 2016 I would prefer the Dream over the Breeze simply because of the port. We love sailing out of NOLA. The city is great and the trip down the Mississippi is something you can't experience at other ports. True, the Breeze has Guy's burgers, but I'd forego a burger for NOLA and the Mississippi any day. renza Posted January 27, 2016 #23 Share Posted January 27, 2016 We love that they are so close to the water, quiet, and private. Wouldn't ever have a regular balcony on the dream class ships again.
tblb629 Posted January 29, 2016 #24 Share Posted January 29, 2016 What makes a cove balcony better?
beachbum53 Posted January 30, 2016 #25 Share Posted January 30, 2016 What makes a cove balcony better? The cove balconies are more private than a regular balcony. You're closer to the water, and don't have to look over the other balconies. You'll see more flying fish and dolphins than you will from a balcony that's higher up. However, because the cove balconies are recessed, you won't get much direct sunlight, so a cove balcony is not a good place to work on your tan. Go on YouTube and you'll find several videos of cove balconies. They will give you a rough idea of what they're like. ;)
