Latest check in time on QM2

We are sailing on the QM 2 out of Dubai to Southampton in April 2016 and have a question.

 

We board the ship on 18 april but the ship does not sail until midday 19th.

We want to spend as much time in Dubai on the 18th and are prepared to make our own way to the ship to check in.

 

Has anyone any idea what is the latest time we would be able to check in on that day?

 

I will try calling Cunard but just wondered if anyone had previous experience of late check in.

I boarded QM2 in Sydney last March. My transfer to the ship was at 10 am but like you I wanted to make the most of the day. I tried ringing Cunard beforehand but they didn't seem to have much idea. In actual fact it was really easy. They just took my luggage and told me to go back later in the afternoon. ....when I just went straight on with no queues.

Why not just check in and then go straight back out again. Taxis aren't expensive and it isn't far.

 

I would thoroughly recommend an evening at the Burj al Arab.

Yes thanks we were considering either doing that or just checking in later in the day.

 

The only thing is when would we have to be aboard fro the muster drill, or would that be the next day just before we sail?

Hi Linda....The reason I just dropped my luggage off was that I was too early for check in. I am pretty sure that muster drill will be on sailing day when all new passengers are on board.

If you have not been to Dubai try to go to the fountains at Burj Khalifa in the evening. Fabulous!
