Fizzlewicket’s Adventure on Oasis of the Seas

Recommended Posts

You know, I could just raddle on this or that about the pool deck. But maybe you are like me who, when exploring a ship, is the silent type who is too busy darting their eyes here and there taking in all the area has to offer. So, let us just do that for a bit and enjoy the sights (and views) of the pool deck. (This will involve a mix of deck 15 and deck 16 views)

Before we move on to the sports deck, let us step aside from the pool deck just a bit to see the entrance to the Windjammer on deck 15.

Go up the stairs to deck 16 and there you are.

You can also access the Windjammer direct from the deck 16 pool deck.

So as you know, my wife enjoyed all our meals in the Windjammer after day three and neither she nor I had any problem with it at all. I have read reviews where people were tired of the lack of selection or variety or even the complaints about the lack of flavor. To be honest (and I always am), every meal I had there was delicious. And I found there was enough variety to want to try so many things but only having only so much room in my stomach. I know everyone wants to see the photos of the fancy food at the fancy restaurants, but I am going to through in some Windjammer food porn into the mix and not be ashamed.

Here was a typical breakfast for me. I know about the powdered eggs, so I grabbed the ones that were over easy and was more than happy with those. And there is one of those delicious muffins. It is so nice not to have to make your own breakfast in the morning.

For lunch, my wife and I went simple. She really enjoyed their cheeseburgers and fries. I had no problem with them too and would sometimes add a turkey burger to the mix. The fries were always hot and crispy with the right amount of salt and once I discovered the chili next to them, I could add a heaping serving for my enjoyment with my fries.

For dinner, I had a wide variety of things to eat. I sampled an amazing asparagus risotto, dined on delicious crab legs, tasted tantalizing tandoori chicken and enjoyed all types of spicy Indian and Asian dishes. For dessert, I sampled some amazing apple cobbler, tried my first bread pudding, and devoured plenty of my favorite Coconut Ranger cookies.

They offered plenty carved meats like ham, roast beef, and turkey (you could actually have made a whole thanksgiving dinner on that turkey night).

Each port dinner included food themes from that location. If I can recall correctly, Labadee had four types of paella. For Jamaica, one dish looked like stewed ox tail (but, I was told was not). And for Cozumel, there was a taco bar, some very tasty enchiladas and other Mexican delights.

And here comes the Windjammer food porn.

For lunch, we have a cheeseburger and fries with some very tasty chili. We also have a beef empanada and a chicken empanada. I thought the beef one was better. For dessert, I snagged several Coconut Ranger cookies.

Here I made two chicken tacos for dinner on the Cozumel night along with a heaping helping of fries (they are just too good). There is also a crab cake there with my favorite roll, the cheese roll.

On this plate, we have a satisfying salad, sensational stewed lamb, terrific teriyaki chicken and fried rice (not nearly as good as Izumi though). And for dessert, you guessed it, more Coconut Ranger cookies.

As we head back out to deck 15 and continue to the sport deck, we find the Wipeout Café. This is another place to have a complimentary breakfast or lunch. They served the meals from a small buffet and had just the basics, but had everything you might need to fill a hungry belly.

Lunch is served!

And here come the hungry peoples.

There also are ice cream machines here.

Just after the Wipeout Café is the Sport Court followed by the first of two Flow riders.

The belly flop contest is happening below at the Aqua Theater. I hope you are not afraid of heights (like I am).

Here is one side of the zip line which is right next to the starboard side Flowrider.

If we head to the next Flow rider, there is the Wipeout Bar …

Hey, while we are here I need to show you where the Sundeck is. My wife and I were searching for a way to access the helicopter pad on the bow of the ship and when we asked a Room Seward about it, he said it was not accessible to passengers, but said that the Sundeck was the next best thing. It was not easy to find, so here I am to help you.

Take the port side elevator that is nearest the bow of the ship. In non-nautical terms, if you were stand towards the front of the ship, take the elevators to the front and to the left.

Sun%200.jpg

Enter the doorway and go down the right hallway until you reach this door.

Unfortunately, at this time, the door was locked due to high winds since we were highly tailing it back to Fort Lauderdale on the last sea day. On any normal day, when the ship is traveling more slowly, the Sundeck was a very pleasant place to be since not many people actually knew about it. It was never crowed and had plenty of sun chairs to allow tanning. There were also some telescopes for your viewing pleasure.

One last thing before we hit the ports. There are forty two (42) Small Wonders located throughout the ship. Some come in a viewer format and show a 3D picture …

Small%202.jpg

Others are in a straight tube format and show a magnified object …

Small%201.jpg

(I put my iPhone camera lens right up to the glass to get this picture of the inside of a tubed Wonder.)

I do not want to ruin the fun by showing them since finding them IS the fun, but be sure to look in every hallway, every corner and every crevice of the ship and do not leave any tree, plant or stone unturned. Some are very carefully hidden and others are in plain sight. Do not forget to look on the walls too. I took a picture of all the ones I found. Can you find them all too?

Happy hunting!

For the rest of the week, we will a look at the cruise ports. We will have a short look at Labadee (since my Liberty of the Seas tour/review covered that well and my wife and I mostly stayed on the ship this time), our delightful Falmouth Jamaica Food and History Tour, and finally a peaceful, relaxing, and overcast day at Nachi Cocum resort at Cozumel. Oh, and a short look at our impromptu mini vacation on the beach of Fort Lauderdale during Blizzard Jonas.

And Candy Beach which is a shop selling inexpensive hard liquor and a variety of hand rolled cigars. (Nah, I just wanted to see if you were paying attention.) Anyway, they sell prebagged candy and candy by weight.

:D:D Been quietly following along with this review. Will be going on her sister ship in March. It's been a real joy to read, but this made me laugh out loud.

Thanks for this. Many folks ask about this observation deck, and your photo guide will help them.:)
