Currency!

Recommended Posts

Until recently, Argentina had a thriving black market (Blue) for its currency, but the new President removed those controls. Now you can acquire pesos from an ATM at the good rate.

As for Chile and Uruguay, you can buy the local currency at ATMs.

We took US dollars in hundred dollar bills (clean, untorn, unmarked) to pay for our private tours. You can save lots of money using private tours.

We used SouthExcursions and their guides are excellent.

Here is my review of our Around the Horn cruise.

If you are going to be in one of those countries pre or post cruise for a few days, you will need some of the local currency for things like taxi fare or METRO fare.

You can use credit cards in most restaurants and hotels.
