Just off the Elation

We were in E186 on the Jan. 23rd sailing. No hair dryer for us but the TV was a flat screen.....sitting in the box on the wall where the tube TV used to be. Still had the box on the floor for the extra life vests. We also had a new thermostat but only for cool air.....no heat (said Guest Services and the cabin steward). It was very cool in our cabin and sometimes even cold. We dressed in layers to make sure we had a little warmth.

Elation is by far one of our favorite ships because of the outdoor seating areas on the back. It's such a comfortable ship as far as the entire layout goes. We've sailed on her four times and would hop onboard again tomorrow if we could.

Our waitstaff was amazing but the food is getting boring. Even the new elegant night menu needs something. I thought I would love the Blue Crab Ravioli but it wasn't good. I ate half of it because I didn't want to hurt our waiters' feelings.

Overall, it was a great cruise.....again! :)

We are in E83 this cruise. I will be sure to bring my own blow dryer, thanks. We love the Elation also, this is our 3rd trip on her. I have heard nothing but bad things about the Blue Crab Ravioli. I will stay away from that... lol.

Thanks again!!!!

We got off today. :( We did have a hair dryer in our room (upper deck), a tube tv, and life jackets in the giant box on the floor. I thought the food was really good, and that the service in the MDR was excellent. I did order mostly from the everyday menu for dinner though. I had the crab ravioli and it was very disappointing. The desserts were all very good, and i liked the bitter and blanc and the grand marnier souffle the best. I didnt have pizza, but the sandwiches at the deli in tiffany's were really good, and the lido buffet was okay. One nice upgrade we did notice was an actual thermostat on the wall in our room, which worked great.

if the new shop vendor company did the change over..was supposed to be last of January....was not in place Jan 28th, but will be back in 3 weeks.....the shop offerings were getting very boring,,and poor selections to boot. After 38 times on her, I'm ready for new merchandise

We are taking our first cruise in May and couple of questions... 1) do staterooms have refrigerators and 2) do they have hairdryers? Ours is room u138. Thanks,

No refrigerators and we did have a hair dryer. It wasn't in the bathroom, but in a drawer by the bed.

Hi! We are cruising on the Elation next month - a four day cruise sailing March 24. Can someone tell me which night is formal night? And which morning we can expect the Seuss at Sea brunch? TIA!

Oh thought of one more question for y'all! Where is the comedy club? Thanks! :)

It was the night of the first sea day, which was a Friday night for us.

Hi all, just off the 4 day Elation to Cozumel. We had an absolute blast. I'll do a more in depth review in the next few days but here are a few highlights:

LOVED our room, verandah 24. It was an inside room. It was worn, but very clean and awesome location. Loved it.

We enjoyed the entertainment, drama bar, the club and lounging around the lido.

We had excellent service from our cabin steward and all the bartenders. Main dining room was another story.

The only real disappointment was the food. It was pretty bad. The main dining room dinner was edible at best. Really disappointing. The sea day brunch was excellent and so was dining room breakfast. The buffet was fine and what we expected.

Any questions? I'll write more when we get home!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I cruised on Elation 4 times in the last 15 months. Every time until the last was absolutely perfect.

The last cruise I had on Elation the service was lacking. I had 2 sea days on that last Elation cruise. Both sea days, the service in the dining room for brunch was horrible. It took 1-2 hours to get my food, and the 2nd sea day, my steak and eggs came out without any eggs and I never got the cup of fries that usually comes with it. The table next to mine, one other person had the same issue with no eggs on the steak and eggs plate, and one other person got eggs that resembled a hockey puck. I couldn't believe it--she held it up and the eggs stood upright on its own and was brown in color when she held it up in her fingers. They complained to the maître de how bad their food and service was. The guy pointed out how what they ordered didn't come, and how all their coffee cups remained empty. He tried to fill the void, but it was too little too late. It was pretty embarrassing on Carnival's part.

It took 3 days into that cruise with multiple requests to get the cabin steward to provide me with ice in my cabin.

On the plus side, the casino staff was phenomenal. They made up for the other poor service I got on that cruise. I still had a good time, and was really surprised how bad the service was on that cruise after my previous recent cruises on Elation.

Did you happen to make it to any of the comedy shows? Were they standing room only or was there enough seating? TY!

We only made it to one show, it was one of the pg ones. We made it there about five minutes before the show began, and didn't see any chairs, but we sat on the ledge in front of the windows at the back. People that came in after the show did have to stand.

I try to hit all of the comedy shows. I think I have to miss 1 family friendly show in order to see all of the major shows in the theater.

When I went in July 2014 it was always standing room. And the standing room would fill up to the point where they wouldn't let everyone in. Then they would make everyone leave the club and get in the back of the line for the next show.

When I went this past September there were less people on the ship and ALOT less children. There was standing room but not nearly as much. They also put more time between the first and second show so people didn't want to stay in between shows anyway.

I'm hoping this cruise in 3 weeks will be like September since school will be in session.

  • 4 weeks later...
Just curious if you can tell us what cabin you were in? We sail in Sept. we are in cabin E114. It sure surprised me that they still have tube TV's! Oh well! lol

I was in E45 this time and it still had a tube TV...a horrible tube TV. Any words on the screen were blurry. They really need to change those out. I thought I saw a flatscreen in a midship interior room once but I could be mistaken. Every other time I saw an open door it was a tube tv.

I know on ecstasy they have hair dryers you just have to ask your stateroom attended for it. Not sure about refrigerator
