Has anyone taken a casino cruise,what perks do you get?

Sometimes, people are lucky to be offered a "casino discount" on their cruise fare which has been reported to be connected to doing some amount of playing in the casino on prior cruises. And it doesn't necessarily take a lot of playing. It has to be playing where your cruise card is registered - as in plugged into a slot machine or handed to the pit boss working the card tables. You get nothing for playing at the Holde 'Em table.

 

That is quite a perk already and there is nothing else been mentioned.

From time to time Princess may invite top players on a particular cruise where there may be a special reception and/or a special dinner. When they do so, this is their way of acknowledging and rewarding highly valued players. And because each player is not equal, what may arrive in their room as an amenity or gift depends upon play.

We were just on the Regal (3/6-3/13/16) and it was a VIP cruise fir casino players. Do to our past playing in a Princess casino, we got money off of our room. We did not know until day of boarding that is was a VIP cruise. After speaking with some of the guests, it seems they got room discounts AND money to gamble with. After seeing how much they bet, I know why I didn't get any money to play with! But I was happy with the room discount.

We occasionally get notified we are eligible for a "casino rate". Sometimes it's an email, sometimes it's a flyer on the door during a cruise. I assume we get it from playing in the casino, which is something we like to do. We don't gamble huge amounts, but I'd say we are mid-level players (table games only).

 

For example on discounts.

 

South America 14 day cruise booked for January 2017. Regular price interior cabin was ~$1560 a person. Casino rate was ~$950 a person. This rate is not displayed anywhere on the princess website. I had to call in after booking to see if it "qualified". Princess rep said he didn't know what the qualifications were, but the system would just tell him whether it did or didn't and would change the price to the new discounted price. But as you can see it saved $1,200. Another family member booked on the same cruise who has never played in the casino was not eligible for the discount. Again the Princess rep said the system just told him that the booking was "not eligible". No other info given.

 

All normal benefits still apply to the casino rates: Elite benefits. FCC, OBC promotion, shareholders, etc.

 

Alaska July 2016. Ocean view price per person was regularly ~$1,200 per person. Casino rate was ~$850 per person. Same non-gambling family is booked on this cruise as well and again his booking was "not eligible".

 

Pacific coast 1 day cruise May 2016. Interior regular price was $69 per person. Casino rate was $38 per person.

 

Taxes, fees and port expenses are never discounted. Discount only applies to guests 1 and 2.

I've been on one Princess Casino VIP cruise several years ago. Going on another in October. These are invites sent with a list of specific cruises to choose from. Offer may include casino cash and/or discount on cabin or comp'd cabin.

 

You'll have a drinks-on-us card in your cabin on boarding which will give you free drinks while playing in the casino. There will be a cocktail party the first night shortly after sailaway, some gifts during the cruise, free slot tourney, maybe drawings in the casino.
