mbrownferrier Posted February 3, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2016 If I set up my expense account as cash now, will I be able to change it to credit card before the cruise if needed?
firemanbobswife Posted February 3, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 3, 2016 (edited) Yes. You can go back in and edit it at anytime up to a few days before your cruise when everything disappears online. You can also change it at the port or at Guest Services on board. Edited February 3, 2016 by firemanbobswife
cb at sea Posted February 4, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 4, 2016 You can change it up until the day you depart the ship...they don't actually CHARGE anything to anything until the cruise is over!
mbrownferrier Posted February 4, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted February 4, 2016 Thank you for the fast responses!! Now waiting until Thanksgiving 2017! [emoji12]
bdpatriot1 Posted February 4, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 4, 2016 You can set up anyway you wish then make changes at any time. For example, even if you set up with a debit/credit card and decide to reduce it along the way (say you win some cash in casino) you can use kiosk and apply to account or bring to Guest Services. You also can ask them to charge X amount towards a particular card and the rest will go towards the card on file. You can basically control it to what fits your situation. Thank you for the fast responses!! Now waiting until Thanksgiving 2017! [emoji12]
Anyislandwilldo Posted January 11, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 11, 2017 I originally set up for a cash account and now want to switch to a credit card account. I went into my cruise manager to change this to a credit card account and all it will let me do is allow another person to charge on the account. What am I missing?? Thanks in advance. BlondieB Posted January 11, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 11, 2017 You can change it up until the day you depart the ship...they don't actually CHARGE anything to anything until the cruise is over! Not entirely true. They run a hold once daily on cards. Cash accounts will allow you to charge with nothing in your account but in late evening hours when they run the charges for the day, you won't be able to put anything on your sail and sign card the next day until you get your account out of the negative either by putting more cash on your account or adding a card. If using a credit card, the actual total account charges are charged upon departure but it can take up to 7-10 days for the daily holds they ran each day to fall off. This is why it's not advised to use your debit card as the card linked so the funds in your checking account aren't tied up with holds.
Anyislandwilldo Posted April 23, 2017 #9 Share Posted April 23, 2017 Called Carnival and solved the problem. Go into your cruise manager and delete your on board account. Then you can go back in and set it up as you wish.
jumojimvw Posted April 23, 2017 #10 Share Posted April 23, 2017 Not trying to hi-jack the thread, but I have been seeing alot of posts regarding charges to accounts after the bill has been settled, for things like towels or bottle of water. If someone sets up their account as cash and does not provide credit info, will Carnival have no way of charging for these types of accessories after the cash payment on the last day of the cruise? mistyinca Posted April 23, 2017 #11 Share Posted April 23, 2017 I always use a credit card, so I don't know about this part: As for the cash option...If someone has only carnival gift cards, is there a minimum required to put on the account? We will be traveling with my in-laws this November, and they don't like using their credit card. Thanks,
gigito2 Posted April 23, 2017 #12 Share Posted April 23, 2017 Was just going to ask a similar question, Mystyinca... I've been trying to find answers to my numerous questions (my first Carnival Cruise) and every time I click on a link or enter a search item , I get an error response. I'm afraid people will get tired of my questions!!!

I always do cash accounts.

kydesperado Posted April 23, 2017 #16 Share Posted April 23, 2017 I will always use cash or gift cards. Last cruise I had my card info compromised (the only time it was given out was at customer service desk) and used for a lot of purchases in Moscow! The charges abruptly stopped the day we got off the ship.
