Fort Lauderdale Hotels--Embassy Suites or Residence Inn

I am looking at staying either at Embassy Suites on 17th Street, or the Residence Inn by Marriott Fort Lauderdale Airport and Cruise Port, the night prior to our cruise. I know the Embassy Suites seems to be closer to the airport and port. Has anyone stayed at Residence Inn, or both, and what is you recommendation in terms of quality of hotels and distance, and location.

We've stayed at the Residence Inn and thought it was a very nice property. It has true two-bedroom suites, so it may work our less expensive for two couples, or a family. I've not stayed at ES, so I cannot compare.

We like Embassy Suites if you can get a good price. Fantastic breakfast and free evening happy hour if you as so inclined. Do not have any experience with Residence Inn.

We've stayed at Embassy Suites. It's very popular on this board. Location is great. Lots of restaurants and shopping near by. Rooms are large. Breakfast and happy hour are ok, nothing special. And it is a zoo on embarkation day (hard to get elevators with luggage). We enjoyed our stay at the Renaissance a little more (but no breakfast or drinks). But we wouldn't rule out Embassy for future trips.

I would pick the Embassy over the Residence Inn just because of the location.

Can't ever go wrong with Embassy, free drinks, great breakfast, and in a super convenient location
