Highlander1 Posted February 11, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2016 I have always noticed other ships in the area while sailing and have read that cruise lines like to keep other ships within an hour or two of each other in case of emergency. I haven't heard any reports of any other ships, cruise line or other, being in the area that Anthem got rocked. Does anyone know if there was another vessel nearby? And if there was, why didn't they experience the same conditions that Anthem did? I'm not being critical, but if its possible and practical, I like the idea of another cruise ship being nearby. The Norwegian Breakaway and Gem (from NYC) were on longer cruises and were already in the Caribbean when the storm got bad. Grandeur departed Baltimore on 2/3, so she was also able to get to the Caribbean. Not sure about any others. gatour Posted February 11, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 11, 2016 Can't speak to freighters, but there were no other cruise ships in the immediate area.
