In port 12-8pm...what to do?

I will be in Costa Maya from noon until 8pm on our cruise in May. Not sure if it is worth doing a beach excursion there because we get in so late, but the time we actually get to the beach it will be 2ish. So I have three questions.....

1. How are the Mayan Ruins in Costa Maya? (as compared to Cozumel or Belize)

2. Are there anything to do near the cruise terminal? Bars/Restaurants?

3. Anyone have a specific thing they have done in Costa Maya that they would recommend?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Not late at all.

Beach clubs along the malecon is 5 minute taxi ride away. These places will be open, if there are ships in.. Lots of divers go here and the hotels have restaurants. Several places are open for dinner.

Restaurants and bars in cruise port are typical chain places like all ports and expensive compared to the malecon. There's an overpriced waterpark just outside the cruise port.

Most ruins tours via Native Choice are in the day time; many get back around the time your ships arrives. But contact them to see what they can arrange. The tours and ruins are very nice.

Your ship will have excursions.
