Snorkel gear

We are staying at the Hyatt place on 17 convention street in FLL is there any stores near by that sell snorkel gear so we don't have to lug it in our luggage on the airplane because of weight? No we do not want to rent any thanks we find that a bit gross with germs and all ;-)

I used to live near Pt. Everglades and I'm pretty sure that you. Old find some decent equipment at CVS or Waldgreens. I know there is a Sports Authority at Sawgrass Mills but there may be one closer to your hotel. Good luck.

FWIW, we order snorkel gear, inflatable noodles etc on Amazon Prime and have it shipped to us at the Hotel. We have never missed having it there. Its always right at the front desk waiting when we check in. The savings are ginormous and as wasteful as it seems. we leave it behind. Its still cheaper than renting, and without the checked baggage cost usually cheaper than bringing from home. (we are pretty much down to a carry-on for a 14 day cruise and maybe ONE checked bag)

Sure, there is a dive shop on the same side of 17th as the Hyatt....just walk towards the port called "Lauderdale Divers"....the first block past the Embassy Suites...it is in a "strip mall" just past the main entrance to the large mall area where Publix and Total Wine is ("Harbor Shops")

Another alternative would be to just bring your own snorkel & use the rental mask/fins. I've done that a few times when I didn't want to haul my dive gear, but also didn't want to use a well-used snorkel.

There are two dive shops close to you:

 

Lauderdale Diver is in the shops in front of The Harbor Shops.

 

Brownie's is across Cordova.

 

There is also a Divers Discount on Federal Highway on your way from the airport to your hotel. It actually isn't too far away.

 

Publix in the Harbor Shops carries Joe Diver mask, snorkel, and fin sets. They will probably be the cheapest.

You can always put your snorkel gear in a carry-on & avoid the extra weight in checked luggage.
