Jasalth Posted February 21, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 21, 2016 Thanks for the help from anyone else like us.. who doesn't drive an automatic car! I have started searching threw our parking options now for our June cruise. Park Right seems like the best option, or the Ridgefield NJ Hilton Garden Inn still haven't decided. I don't really NEED a hotel, my cousin lives about 90 mins away from port and we can crash with her for the night before and then drive the rest in the morning. Has anyone else who has a stick shift used Park Right? I am always rather wary of letting anyone drive our cars anywhere because, at least in my city, valets are NOT trained on stick shifts for 90% of places. And if you have one, nothing is worse than hearing those grinding noises your car makes as it pulls away from you! Or has anyone used Park Right w/o using their drop off at the port? I mean if we are gonna walk back to them with our luggage after (which was our plan) the only difference would be the cases of water I want to bring for our.. well 3 day walking of Bermuda. Thanks for any help from the even more of a minority on here I am sure than normal!
3poundpuppies Posted February 22, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 22, 2016 I would drop all your stuff and your passenger off at the pier then go drop car at Parkright. They still need to drive it onto the elevator and into the parking stall though....
Rare Got2Cruise Posted February 22, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 22, 2016 Why don't you save money by staying at your cousin and then park at the pier. You will be so glad you did after your cruise is over and you can hop in your car and take off without any hassle
hansolosmom Posted February 23, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 23, 2016 Maybe you could call them and ask if they have anyone that drives a stick. It's a shame it seems to be a dying art.
welikepalms Posted February 24, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 24, 2016 I never thought about your question but you have a great point. How many people (esp. younger generation) know how to drive a stick shift.. I just wanted to add my 2 cents. I second the advice from Got2Cruise. Park at the pier (self park). When you return you will be so glad your car is right there. You load up and on your way in no time. Just a note from our experience. Last time we sailed from Manhattan our ship was docked at one pier for embarkation but they had us park atop another pier. When I ask (it should have been evident but...) the attendant let us know it was because that was the pier we would dock at on our return. Anyway that's my 2 1/2 cents. Happy Cruising!
