I saw the doc a few times on my cruises, when he got back or was leaving the ship for his 3-6pm shift. Here's a pic of him going off after his shift:

edit; most of the times he would wave too and we would wave back, really friendly guy!

You do realize many here will not get the humor right? Lol[emoji41]

My niece slipped and cut her chin on The Gem slide. She was escorted with her mum by security staff to the medical room where it was stitched by the ship doctor. Later a high ranking officer made a point of finding my sister and her family to check on my niece. Later there were chocolate covered strawberrys left in the cabin for my niece.

For every negative story I'm sure there are far more positive ones.

It might not even have been a serious medical issue

The poster uses the term "stabilized" but does that mean they stopped bleeding or just helped her to get back up and checked for bruises?

I think this poster is just making mountains where they aren't

Agreed.

If there was a joke there, it was neither obvious nor funny...

au contraire, it was both obvious and funny!!! The thought of a pilot boat picking up and dropping off the ships doctor for a three hour shift every day is very funny!!! It follows the whole thought process of the OP stating the doctor only works three hours a day.

On three cruises I happened to be present when a guest fell sustaining injuries. Every time medical staff arrived. In one case, the doctor responded as well. Their care was appropriate ( I was a paramedic for 20 years)

On NCL they typically hire nurses and doctors with ER and or ICU experience.

I have toured the medical centers Carnival, RCCL and on 2 Norwegian ships.

They are well equipped as a small ER.

Princess started hiring paramedics recently in addition to nurses and doctors. There are Martine standards that require medical staff, not familiar with specifics.

Most likely the person who Nswered the poster's call, mishandled. It.

It's important to understand that it takes time for medical to respond from the medical center typically located on deck 4 or 5 to the pool deck.

Just off Carnival Splendor. Missed last step and fell. Hit head, broke wrist. Was on deck 0 (heading for tender) steps away from infirmary. They were there in a minute. Concern for my head but it was fine. Xrays, support for arm, bandaging, lots of paperwork. I cannot fault Carnival at all. Anyone who falls should be treated as I was.

All the nonsense folks on here come up with to discredit any thing that sounds like a dig or accusation toward NCL. Usually it's a group of the same folks. All these theory's are hilarious. That's probably why folks do not show up at the meet and greets anymore they are too afraid they may run into someone they disrespected on line with there fake name.

Not sure this is true. The meet and greet on my December Dawn cruise had huge participation and more attendees than another other meet and greet I've been to on NCL, Celebrity or Crystal.

Nancy, please don't try to confuse them with facts!!!!

That's why we should treat everyone with respect, just because we have

different opinions should not mean we should make the other person feel

bad by calling them names or putting them down for their opinions.

I would never post anything on social media or on a board that i would not feel

comfortable with saying to someone in person.

Insulting people and calling them stupid etc etc is uncalled for.Good thing that does not happen here often, right ?

Not sure who you are referring to, what I see is others sharing their experiences on NCL and other lines. Now for your quote above don't see what relevance it has to the topic at all other than being insulting.

That is what I am talking about. The relevance the poor OP was bashed and you don't see it? My comment was sticking up for folks that have a topic to express it without all the judge judys coming out of the wood work tearing them apart and coming up with all kinds of guesses of what really happened or what should happen. How is that insulting to you?

I have seen poor showing in the last 3 which have been a year and a half. Check out this years spring break cruises out of Florida. Not much there. People forget that they are still traceable and I have seen it happen.( I was embarrassed for that person.)

Not necessarily to me. I quess people adding their evaluation of the post or their own experience with a similar situation IMO is just participating in the topic. I don't believe anyone discredited the account. Your post seemed to me to be bashing anyone who had any input other than negative. To each there own don't want to take away from the OP.
