Bad cabins on the gem?

Welcome to CC - deck 4 Fwd is quiet, mostly. What is your specific inside cabin # if you wish to share ?

We had an OV with porthole, think it was #4562 so "further" back - and it's noisy only when ship is arriving & sailing from "tendering" in port, as there's no noise/vibration from the anchors being lowered & raised and on embarkation & disembarkation days - when, luggage carts & supplies / provisions are being moved around on the lower decks. If you are further (all the way) forward with those few cabins up front - you are below crew/storage and/or supply storage areas, nothing to be concerned about (no wild parties at 2 am or 10 am, etc.) and you are actually further away from the kitchen/gallery area that's further back & possibly below the main theater stage, noises & footsteps aren't usually either. Ship's engines & mechanicals are on lower decks (below waterlines) and not an issue for you.

Since you are probably "new" to cruising, forward & aft (rear) sections of the ship are more prone to motion - mainly vertically, up & down, if sea conditions are "really" rough with high cross-wind & waves, in addition to possible lateral or sideway movements (ship has and do sometimes deploy stabilizers, if appropriate to smooth things out, not always ... AFAIK) But, being on the lowest passenger decks, it is not known to be "bad" vs. being on the much higher passenger decks like #10 if your sailing is during the hurricane season to/from Bermuda or the Caribbean islands. It's generally a given that the ship will experience & run into several hours of rougher seas going south & returning northward, transitioning from cold weather fronts into warm weather zones - often, off the coastal water of VA & NC/SC.

In generally, the more subtle & gentle rocking & rolling motion at night, we found, are great for sleeping - YMMV, of course.

Thank you for the detailed response! We will be in cabin 4501 which is the very front cabin as per the deck layout. I think it will be fine, and had a very similar location on the breakaway last May (except we were on the 10th deck). I found it to be relatively quiet and when you are at the very front, you don't hear as many people walking by and talking at night as you would in a more mid- ship room
