crusinpsychRN Posted February 23, 2016 #101 Share Posted February 23, 2016 I haven't had a thin burger at Guy's. What were those white stick looking things on the toppings bar? Potato sticks?
BIGA961 Posted February 23, 2016 #102 Share Posted February 23, 2016 Guy's Burgers are tremendous! I won't say they're better than 5 Guy's, but they're both in the same category. The toppings bar is really good, and the fries are nice as well. I've never had a dry burger, and they're generally distributing them as fast as they're able to make them. A cheeseburger/fries/coke at 5 Guy's costs $13, and you're still on land, Guy's is included in the fare, and you're on a Cruise Ship!!!
tandemcruzr Posted February 23, 2016 #103 Share Posted February 23, 2016 What exactly makes Guy's Burgers, in an apparent class by themselves? There must be something that causessuch eager appetites? They seem to be legendary. Not to me. I had a bite of my wife's burger and wasn't impressed. :(
mamieof3 Posted February 23, 2016 #104 Share Posted February 23, 2016 Well, I will admit that the deciding factor between cruising out of NOLA or Galveston for our upcoming cruise was Guy's and Alchemy...Freedom had both. DH has not had the pleasure of either and I wanted him to have that opportunity....yes, it was all about him, really....no, really.....:D
NIATPAC29 Posted February 23, 2016 #105 Share Posted February 23, 2016 Even more so than the warm chocolate melting cake? :o I know. The one I had last week had very little cake and just a whole bunch of chocolate syrup in the middle
BigAlexC Posted February 23, 2016 #106 Share Posted February 23, 2016 Love Guy's. Our last 2 cruises (Liberty & Sunshine) both had one. I will say that I thought the burgers on Liberty where better than those on Sunshine and my Wife agreed. Not sure why, but we both shared the same opinion. Pro Tip - You can always ask for a extra patty... or 2! I enjoyed a few "double stacks" and one triple! Yes, I have a hearty appetite!

campdaan Posted February 23, 2016 #109 Share Posted February 23, 2016 Guy's and the other 2.0 venues are a big asset compared to what was offered previously. I won't compare it to 5 Guys, because I've never had a 5 Guys gratis within 50 yards of any other vacation I have been on.
christyran1228 Posted February 23, 2016 #110 Share Posted February 23, 2016 (edited) We were kind of wondering what the big deal was, but had our first (of several :o) recently on the Triumph. They were pretty darn good. And the fries ... lol Edited February 23, 2016 by christyran1228
98Charlie Posted February 23, 2016 #111 Share Posted February 23, 2016 Funny that White Castle and Krystal come up in a conversation about burgers. Yes they are hamburgers. But sliders should be considered a sub-group of hamburgers with White Castle being the original. They were referred to derogatorily as sliders as far back as I can remember (late 50's early 60's) because if you ate too many they would slide right through ya':p Charlie (Slider eater for over 50 years)
SeaGoingDAD Posted February 23, 2016 #112 Share Posted February 23, 2016 Booked a Magic cruise for 2017. Magic currently getting upgraded, to include Guy's Burgers. I have never experienced this burger. I have sensed people's anticipation, of the addition of this food offering. What exactly makes Guy's Burgers, in an apparent class by themselves? There must be something that causes such eager appetites? They seem to be legendary. It's chopped meat. If you look past the hype, you'll just see they're trying to get you to eat the cheap food, instead of the real stuff. No one goes to McDonalds when you've already paid to eat at Olive Garden. Tripper10 Posted February 23, 2016 #116 Share Posted February 23, 2016 If they are fresh they are good. If they've been sitting a while they are dried out. Found that out first hand. I also think it's the idea, being on a cruise. We usually grab one embarkation lunch. They will make you fresh ones if you ask.
summersigh Posted February 23, 2016 #117 Share Posted February 23, 2016 Even more so than the warm chocolate melting cake? :o You mean the warm, bitter chocolate pudding with vanilla pudding? I'm not sure what all the hype is for the "melting cake" :D

I agree, and I LOVE burgers. The think and juicy burgers I make at home are much better. I prefer to eat at the carving station and salad bar for lunch and better cuts of meat for dinner on a cruise. koikat Posted February 23, 2016 #120 Share Posted February 23, 2016 I had Guy's Burgers on Glory and I thought they were great. Definitely better than the grilled burgers on most ships. If I had my choice, I would pick the ship serving Guy's vs regular grilled burgers.

dacsmom Posted February 23, 2016 #122 Share Posted February 23, 2016 So you're paying $599+ to eat hamburgers on a ship. Cheeseburgers, get it right. And no, I have never paid $599 to eat a cheeseburger on a ship. I sail solo most of the time, so I pay double. :p
afcruiser Posted February 23, 2016 #123 Share Posted February 23, 2016 I love Guys Burgers. They are juicy and the meat is cooked well. The melty cheese has a great texture - it sticks to the burger without disintegrating into the burger and disappearing. It gives the right bun to meat ratio. And then the toppings are plentiful and varied. If you want to kick things up a notch, you can also head over to the Blue Iguana to add some salsa or hot sauce. I like the Ringer with the onion ring and bourbon BBQ sauce (that sauce is quite literally - awesome sauce). And the Chipotle mayo is the best dip for the fries. Thanks for posting a delicious PIC of Guy's n Fry's. YUM. BTW. Enjoying your review.
Gallivanting Souls Posted February 24, 2016 #124 Share Posted February 24, 2016 My DH & I will definitely try at least one. We also will try whatever other lunch offerings the Conquest has to offer. So much food, so little time
Chief Cruiser Posted February 24, 2016 #125 Share Posted February 24, 2016 I ate one. I found it to be OK. Honestly, I think the original burgers Carnival cooks are better. I just don't get caught up in all the psych/mind branding stuff. The taste is what it is to each individual.....regardless of whose name is on it. I am not going to eat something I don't like just because some "chef's" name is on it. JMHO.
