Dawn Disembarkation Time in New Orleans

Our vacation summary for the Dawn 11/27 sailing shows an arrival time back in New Orleans of 8am, with a comment of "Disembarkation usually begins 2 hours after docking". Does that mean walk off starts at 8am or 10am?

I just booked an 11:59am flight, and have 24 hours to cancel it without a fee.

Help!? Thanks! :)

If all goes well, easy walk off guests should be getting off around 7:30 or 8 am. However, the only time we've sailed out of New Orleans, it was the absolute longest delay we've ever experienced, with us not getting onto the street until almost noon. Hopefully that delay was a rare exception to the normal. With no delays, you should be fine with that flight.

Hmmm... not sure if that makes me feel better or worse. Do you know what caused your delay? And thanks for the reply!

If everything goes normally, you should be ok. You can increase your chances by being in the first group to disembark, which means you have to carry off your own suitcases. As mentioned elsewhere, that's normally between 7am and 8am.

Was two things that day. First was an increased security issue somewhere causing a more complete inspection of all guests. The immigration folks, instead of just giving each guests' passport a quick look, instead scanned each passport and then waited for a computer return of information on that passport. Took several minutes per guest passport. Then, apparently the New Orleans immigration folks were having a work slow down of sorts. It was a Sunday and only a very few had shown up for work. The number of booths working were only two or three. We had driven, so no big deal for us. However, there were guests crying and screaming all around, missing flights left and right. And poor NCL, who would have like nothing better than getting all of us off the ship and getting it turned around for the next departure, was catching the wrath of the guests' anger. It was an ugly ending to the cruise.

We got off the dawn with our own luggage on the 1-24--we where at our hotel by 8AM near the quarter. The hardest time we had was getting on the elevator to go down--with suitcases not very many people can fit on an elevator! we ended up going up from 10-12 on a mainly empty elevator then down to the 7th to get off. I would say it took about 30 minutes for us to get off--line moved fairly quickly. Customs on that day only looked at your passports. And getting a taxi was very quick..big line waiting, they call one for you as soon as you get to the area.

So baring an emergency, you should have no problem if you can get your luggage down to 7th by 7:30.

We've done this cruise 5 times now. Every time we were driving past the airport at about 8 am! The only other time there was an issue it was due to a medical evac that delayed our arrival by several hours. We knew about it the afternoon before and most changed airline reservations while at sea.

Plan on easy walk off, flag down a cab and be at the airport in 30 minutes tops!!!

We sailed the Damn Dawn in 2014 out of Tampa. Exact same thing happened to us. We sat, waiting to get on til after 4 due to cruisers still getting off from previous cruise. They were stiil in line at 3 pm, then it was turnaround time for the cruise. Cruise over. We were to do the self disembark As soon as they announced it, we got in line, apprx 7:30. Line did not move. Same area, hour later. Finally got off apprx 10am. That is where the Damn Dawn name came from. Since family wanted this cruise for the ports, we again will be On the .... ..., again over Thanksgiving, figured it couldn't happen again. Now I read the comments, De Ja Vous.
