How many dance venues are on MS Eurodam after the try dock, how is the food?

We read somewhere that they have "closed" the Northern Light Disco and changed it into a huge bar close to the casino on Ms Eurodam after the dry dock? We like to do some dancing after dinner and we enjoyed our cruise on the Nieuw Amsterdam last year. I believe Ms. Eurodam is the sister ship and has the same layout until she has been dry docked and renovated early this year. Could anyone who has sailed on the Ms. Eurodam after the dry dock please tell us what are the dance venues that are on the ship now? I believe the BB King Blues Club is still there, the Ocean Bar that has a live band that plays some ballroom, more mellow music, is that still there? Have they relocated the "Disco" to another area of the ship? When we were on the Nieuw Amsterdam, there was also a lounge with a dance floor on the very top deck, I think it's called Crow's Nest? But there was no band, or DJ, and was never used for any dance function. Which was disappointing, because it did have a nice wood dance floor there. So is the "Crow's Nest" on the Ms. Eurodam being used for any dance venue at all?

Also , do they have a in house "Port Expert" that gives you a narration on the speaker sometime when the ship sails pass some important sights, and offers assistant with DIY sightseeing local info? He is definitely someone who functions more than a normal staff member at the excursion desk.

Also, we didn't have a sail away party when we sailed last time. Which is surprising, given the fact that we have sailed with many cruise lines and they were the only one who didn't have an official sail off party. Do you recall if there was one on her now?

How was the food? How were the production shows? Have they been updated to more high tech type of act?

Thank you in advance.

We sailed on the Eurodam on February 7th. To the best of our knowledge, they have not relocated the disco. The new Gallery Bar is a beautiful lounge adjacent to the casino -- it has taken the place of the Northern Lights. Yes, the BB King show still takes place in the Queens Lounge where there is dancing. The Crows Nest has been re-carpeted during drydock, so there is really no opportunity for dancing there.

Don't really know about the sail away party as we never attend.

We felt the food was pretty good but sometimes the selection seemed a little bit more limited than in the past.

We do not attend production shows, but never miss the comedians. There were two on this cruise (on different nights) and they were both very good. Hope this helps.

when I have been on HAL ships that have dancing, there have only been two or three elderly couples dancing. Our last cruise was Thanksgiving and the Crow's nest was busy with trivia, jigsaw puzzle enthusiasts, readers, small groups meeting, relaxers on those nice chairs. It was more of a family cruise. Now I do miss the three chamber music players but will tolerate 2 in one of the lounges below. There also used to be the HALcats for sailaways but they were way too loud--now we have steel drums. Try Cunard for ballroom dancing (oh, you might have to really dress up though!)

No matter what HAL does there will be those who are unhappy!!

Thanks everyone for replying my post. So just curious, the Northern Lights was taken out after the renovation, what was the function of the Northern Lights? I thought that was the Disco? So I gather that the Disco is still there, the BB King Blues Club is still there, what about the Ocean Bar that used to have a live band that played some mellow ballroom music that you can dance to? Is that venue still there? Those were the 3 that were available when we sailed on the Nieuw Amsterdam last May. Too bad about the Crows' Nest. Another thing that we felt lacking was some sort of party on the pool deck. I know Holland America is catered to a more mature crowd, we are in our early 60's as well but do love to dance, and kind of miss the pool deck parties that were offered in some of the other cruise lines. We did sail on the Cunard and yes we had our fair share of ballroom dancing. But indeed it's more fancy and you pay a lot more for the cruise as well. We enjoyed our Cunard cruise as well as the Nieuw Amsterdam last year. Thought since the Eurodam is her sister's ship, we should expect similar amenities from her! We thought the service on HAL was very good.

Northern Lights/Disco is no longer there. It is now the Gallery Bar/Lounge. The Ocean Bar is still there and has a band that plays in the evening. Yes, the B.B. King group plays evenings in the Queens Lounge/B.B. King Blues Club. And the dance floor has been removed from the Crow's Nest.

gam888. We feel as you do. Same ages and love to dance. There were no sail aways or deck partys on our cruise in November. We did enjoy our ports during the cruise but the ship life was disappointing for dancers. We enjoyed the BB King but a lot of times I was the only one dancing. I'm not sure what cruise line would make me happy with more dance opportunity. Hope you find what you are looking for!
