Royal Suite Class program - Roll Out Date?

On ships with Royal Suite Class the purple, plum and dark blue replace the "gold" card. Pinnacles have a white card. On other classes ( not Oasis and Quantum) the "gold" Seapass remains for Pinnacles and GS and above.

That's weird. I printed out my seapass and it said "gold" on it.

Didn't the concierge use to escort suite guests off the ship? Does that not happen anymore for those without genies? We plan on self disembarking and the only issue we ever run into is finding an elevator where we can fit us and one piece of luggage.

There were two consierge assisted walk offs. By the way... The genie walk off is worth the cost of the suite alone. Delivered from Vintages where we had a light breakfast directly to a customs where we were put to the next in line. It saved literally two hours of lineup time.

Was very nice having the priority off with the group. Hate to say it, but is was worth the dirty looks.

 

Side note: I think the Sea class had suite tagged luggage but no priority/escorted departure.

Remind me, do they do the send your stuff directly to the airport from the ship or do you have to take yourself?

If the port, airport, and airline participate in Royal's Luggage Valet program, and the flight time fits into the airline's requirements, then that would be a complimentary option for suite guests.

Good to hear. Did he ask questions, or try to get a handle on what you are doing that week?

 

I'm not entirely sure I was supposed to get this email yet, as he said he was looking forward to meeting us on the 22nd (I went online and did a double check on our sail date)!!! :eek:

 

Nothing in it that has not been covered here already. I'll put together a short list of preferences and such, and let him know what we've already booked (dinners).

I'm interested in hearing any first-hand reports about stops in Labadee. Was your genie able to secure your preferred cabana for you? There's a very particular one I want at the suites beach, not sure the best way to go about getting it.

Be honest and be thoughtful about the surveys. I noted how our cruise was a way for our group to be together one last time before two of the folks moved. Our genie delivered a very thoughtful going away tribute for our friends after a beautiful dinner at Chops. He also gave each of us a parting gift personalized for us along with a very nice note for each. I was given a very nice leather bound photo book so that I could capture the memories from the cruise to always have. The ones leaving received a very nice Royal backpack filled with things to help them start their "next adventure".

 

I had not really talked about that aboard the ship. That was only communicated via the survey. So they are read and the genies do use it to try and personalize the experience a bit further.

I wonder if the genies prefer you to pre book dining? Would rather play it by ear.

 

 

Genie said it was easier for him to reserve anything that was a paid venue so he did not have to track down guest services peeps to get OBC or refunds.

 

Personally I would recommend just letting your genie handle it all. It was SO nice not having to worry about reservations leading up to the cruise and during it. It was nice to not have the feeling we had to rush to get to the next scheduled thing.

 

The genie simply made things happen. We only saw/talked to him a couple of times per day, but those contacts were super effective. Anything we asked for, he tracked down the right people to make it happen.

Don't forget, reservations are something the concierge handles, I believe the Genie just facilitates. When we sailed Quantum in Dec. 2014 we made no reservations at all ahead of time and the concierge took care of everything we wanted, when we wanted it (this is also true when we had a GS on Liberty in 2013).

 

So IMHO, while this is a perceived perk of the Genie it's been in place for some time. Get a GS or higher and you can be where you want, when you want. :) We're just getting more of a personal touch with the Genie.

My gut feeling is that getting the reservations you want (time/place) when you're in Star class accommodations is one thing, as they likely keep a spot here and there open - just in case. Getting the same, predictable, results when you're part of a considerably larger group of cabins is less of a sure thing.

 

I know that when we've been in Sky Suites on Celebrity, the Concierge was not able to find us reservations a couple/few times... nothing, nada - yet when in the Penthouse - there was nothing that they were not able to handle, even with just a couple hours notice. I do think that the concierge needs to wield their clout in a measured way.

He's been very helpful and told me he would just have my dinner reservations refunded on board. That's fine with me given it can offset the cost of the cabana. :) he's making our CK reservations and has made it clear we can ask him for assistance with most anything.

 

We also got the prohibited items list. Maybe they do that because our luggage doesn't go through the same screening process and get subject to the naughty room?

On Oasis, the RLS, OLS, and GLS had the same Genie. The two SLS and two of the 2-bedroom AquaSuites had the same Genine, and the remaining 4 AquaSuites had another Genie. There was also a 'spare' Genie for a total of four onboard.

Well Royal is nothing if not inconsistent, since Tom is in the GLS and we are in an SLS. Or maybe they are playing around with different cabin assignments to see what works best. Running back and forth between 17 and all the way aft, 7 or 8 decks down can't be fun.

I'm curious to see the breakdown of the genies on the HOS seeing as she only has 3 star class suites on deck 17.

 

To me it'd make sense for one genie to have them all.
