Magic Deck 6 - Noisy?

It's definitely noticeable. We did a GTY cabin last year, and ended up right above the piano bar. I was really worried about it going in, but in the end, it wasn't much of an issue. In fact, we booked cabins in the same location for our upcoming trip.

We could certainly hear the noise, but I've described it as more of a rumble, I guess. We always sleep with a white noise machine, and we could hear the voices from below over that but it didn't disrupt us for whatever reason. I had taken ear plugs and never used them. Hopefully, we'll have a similar experience this year.

Reading comments. We are booked in 6402 and it looks to be somewhere over the Lanai or RFP (hard to tell from the deck plans) We are traveling with kids so I am wondering how much noise will be coming from below.

It depends on where exactly you are. If you are more forward above the fun shops, it should be pretty quiet unless you go all the way forward towards the theater. Otherwise, there are lots of different areas that will have anywhere from a little bit of noise to a lot of noise. Cabins above the Night club, Comedy club, Piano bar, Casino, Ocean Plaza and Red Frog Pub will all have varying degrees of noise depending on what is going on each night. The Night club will be the worst since it can go on until 3:00 AM some nights.

For the person in 6402, you are close to the Red Frog Pub, but from the deck plans it looks like you aren't right on top of it. So you may hear some noise either from there or the ocean plaza. At least you aren't on the starboard side where the BBQ is, because it can get smokey on sea days.

The best deck is actually 8 on verandah. The magic, dream, and breeze are the only ships with that extra deck so you are dead center in the ship. You only have cabins above you and below you and keeps you away from the jacuzzi's on deck 5 much better.

I'm in 6402 and I agree about where it looks(ish) to be. If the price comes done I may bump up to deck 7, but I am not too worried. Above the dance club would be a different story. We were on deck 6 on the Conquest and it was very quiet.

  • 1 month later...

On this class of ship we agree that the best deck is the 8th Verandah deck.....you are far enough above the Promenade deck (which circles the entire ship) to have privacy from those pax walking at any point on that deck. Any deck lower, the balcony has no privacy and can be seen clearly into from the Promenade deck. Additionally, we concur with staying away from being directly across from the hot tubs...our experience has been that they stay very lit up and can be quite raucous and noisy at night.

You don't want to be perched over the hot tubs, outside BBQ station or Red Frog area, as well any indoor music venues.

Check your deck plan carefully!

That's for sure! We had balcony 8370 port side on the Dream(similar deck plan as Magic with the lanai areas) and it was directly over the port side hot tub on the lanai and the lanai smoking area. Not very pleasant at times.

Didn't someone post in the last day or two that smoking area has been moved.

Didn't notice it one bit. It was as quiet as any other location we've ever had. I was very careful about choosing a balcony that would NOT look straight down at hot tubs or the BBQ area, so that seemed to help.
