Hotel Jazz vs. Hotel Vilamari - Barcelona

I am torn between the two. For those who have stayed at either please send me your comments. If we book Hotel Vilamari we will save $60 for the night.

We've stayed at the Jazz twice before. Love the location, close to Playa Cataluna, metro, Las Ramblas, many places to eat. Rooms were clean, staff was very good, can't say anything negative at all. Would like to stay there again, but the price has jumped siginifcantly, so we may have to look elsewhere.

We are staying at Hotel Jazz in October before our cruise. We got an excellent rate on an on-line hotel booking site (with some points we had with the booking site, and as a VIP member, our rate was under $125 for the night). We are planning on taking the airport bus to the hotel. It looks like the University stop on the bus (the one before Playa Cataluña) is the closest stop (around a 3 minute walk). Has anyone taken the bus to that stop instead of the Playa Cataluña stop? Any recommendations for dinner (assuming after a long flight and day of touring, we can stay up until around 9 for dinner).

Wow, $125 per night is about half of what I'm looking at. What part of October? I noticed a huge difference between mid October and late October.

Thanks, I was looking a few days earlier and was seeing rates of 240 Euros per night. I'll have to check some other booking sites.

My sister and I stayed at the Hotel Jazz last October(1st and 2nd). We enjoyed our stay there. Good location, friendly staff, nice, clean good sized room. Would stay again the next time we are in Barcelona.

We stayed at the Jazz in 2015 at a rate of $220 USD. Loved the hotel and location. We are staying there in April 2016 pre and post cruise for about the same daily rate. Highly satisfied.

Stayed at the Jazz and would agree with all the comments above - location, service, comfort all very good. We are using it again this summer.

 

Never stayed at the Vilamari so can't help with a direct comparison.
