Inner Harbor Victoria

Recommended Posts

Can you walk to the Inner Harbor from the cruise terminal? We will be in Victoria for the evening on the cruise ship Solstice in August. Thanks

Yes, it's just under a mile, easy walk along the waterfront

This map should help, the route is shown in Red

We are there the first of August... and the evening hours believe 6-11:59:eek: trying to decide if would be better to go to the Buchart gardens lanterns tour? Thanks for your help.

I think the tour is worth it, I've heard some packed themselves into a taxi for some savings.

August 1st is a 9pm sunset.

Easy, yes - cheap, no. BTW, you are cutting off the square bracket [ in your posts, which is why your attempts to quote people are not working properly - check you don't have Insert key active on your keyboard, you might be overtyping part of the quotes with your reply.

Ballpark $50-60 each way, and you will need to prebook a cab for the return to ensure you don't risk missing your ship. Your stop seems a little longer than some at 6 hours, but it's still not ideal - by the time you disembark, even if you jump right in a cab you'll be arriving at Butchart probably 7pm or later. Still enough time to see the gardens in real daylight and twilight, so you can get the best of both worlds once it gets dark enough for the lights to show nicely.

Even with four of you in a cab, once you've paid the $33pp entry fee it really doesn't save you anything compared to a local tour - compared to the overpriced-in-USD ship tours it will be a more significant saving. Local tours, from the Empress hotel, cost about $62pp including entry fee to the gardens (4x$62 = $248 vs. $100-120 cab fare plus 4x$33 = $232-252). If you can fit five of you in a minivan cab - possible with just cameras/handbags, you should expect to save a few bucks per person vs. the CVS tours.

All amounts Canadian currency unless specified otherwise!
